My ballot for the @WONF4W Hall of Fame, which should be about recognizing the people who built this strange, magnificent business—from Gilbert Leduc to the Briscoes.

As part of the @violent_people "Funkin Fall" I wrote about Terry Funk's incredible 1977 match with NWA champion Harley Race.
Spent a lot of time talking with Terry in real life and tried to imagine what a conversation about this match might sound like.

With the late, great Oliver Reed currently wowing 2026 audiences all over again with his incredible performance in the restored version of Ken Russell’s ‘The Devils’, I wanted to share this amazing clip of him from 1985.
The rather low-res clip comes from ‘In at the Deep End’, a BBC series in which presenter Paul Heiney tries his hands at a profession he had zero experience in. For this episode, Heiney was preparing for an acting role opposite Michael Caine in ‘Water’ and went to Oliver Reed for some pointers on how to play a villain.
Please enjoy what happens next.

Almost 40 years ago, the Malenkos took this skinny kid , with no money to pay them & trained me to be a Pro Wrestler. There wouldn't be a 123 Kid or an X Pac if not for them. Joe Malenko was in a coma for several weeks. He has a long road to recovery ahead. Please help if you can.gofund.me/2f9f5f8b4

Revelatory work.
"His Hall of Fame case doesn’t rest on nostalgia. It rests on the money he drew, the television audiences he attracted, the rivalries he helped create, and the extraordinary cultural impression he left behind".

Chris D.'s Gun and Sword: An Encyclopedia of Japanese Gangster Films 1955-1980 (2012) is the definitive guide to classic yakuza cinema. Spanning 1955–1980, it traces the genre from chivalric ninkyo eiga to brutal jitsuroku films, with critical entries, credits, and rare stills.

Imagine walking into a Whataburger and running into Fritz Von Erich, Terry Funk and Killer Karl Kox all in one place. The little dude next to Terry is me. 1996 or 97.
