For what its worth, for Gap-3-SAT, we can shave off a log log n factor in the exponent (based on what Astra tells me)..So Gap-3-SAT can be solved in 2^{n/\sqrt{n}} time.
Its the first time there is an algorithmic separation between 3SAT and Gap-3-SAT.
