The story and laughter (from someone who is not a teacher) at 57 minutes is genuinely hilarious viewing.
The fact that the story is true is a huge worry.
In this week’s episode of The Amol Rajan Connection: @daisychristo on how we’re messing up Education; the danger of the Stupidogenic Society; what technology does to our minds; long-term vs working memory; and how AI affects what children should learn. Out now on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Amazon Music.

Are ties & suits for most professionals a thing of the past?
Every time I go to an after school event at my son's school, Dad's dress casuallym
I don't mean shirt no tie (that was Cameron era), I mean shorts, trainers, unironed t shirts
Other parents comment on how smart I am

I wear an M&S suit, Asda shirt and a tie that cost less than a tenner. You'd swear I was wearing Saville Row.
Is teacher dress code an anachronism?
Has pride on appearance at work slumped?
Have I become a snob (20 years ago I mildly resented wearing a tie)?

The danger with focusing on oracy is (obviously) that teachers might prioritise students talking over actually teaching them stuff. I've seen scores of 'turn and talk' that seek to engage kids at the detriment of actually explaining things carefully.
Great question by @TeacherTapp
Pretty sure most contracts mean that IP belongs to employer.
Loads of complex points for / against.
If created in school time/my time
If inspired by shool provided CPD / weekend CPD (e.g. ResearchED, #MathsConf ) 1/n

Dear @ArborEdu
Can you add a 'clock here to email all staff who teach this student' on each students profile page?
This would save many thousands of hours.
hi @ArborEdu
Can the screen be modified please?
I can't read this without squinting.
I am 52, my eyes aren't the best but this is a real struggle to read.
Thank you.

As a teacher- all homework must be visible on 1 system
As a governor-all homework must be visible on 1 system
As a parent- ALL HOMEWORK MUST BE VISIBLE ON THE SAME SYSTEM!!!😵💫😵💫
Please.
Navigating multiple platforms causes frustration for families.
Even good schools do this.
To clarify, use as many websites and mediums as you like. So long as the deadlines can be seen in one app / place that's easy forpupils and their parents to access.
Or, just use good old fashioned planners.
A great read.
So much work to do on this, so many strategies.
The magic is in how/when to use any strategy, most of us are nowhere near where we need to be on this.
Turn&Talk,Think Pair Share,class reading, phonemes,etymology,cold call,choral response,batch call...
Lots of to do.
We're heading into an era of ideologically driven, superficially appealing edu-fads again aren't we.
