1/ It's #MalnutritionAwarenessWeek. Malnutrition is common in cirrhosis, and we've known it for decades. What we haven't done is build it into routine care the way we did carvedilol and pHTN. We need to routinely screen for it and proactively manage it when present.

March is #OvarianCancerAwarenessMonth.
Symptoms of ovarian cancer can be caused by lots of things, which can make it hard to diagnose. It’s important to contact your GP if things don’t feel normal for you, or if any symptoms continue or get worse.

ALT Text reads: "Feeling constantly bloated; a swollen tummy; discomfort in your tummy or pelvic area; feeling full quickly when eating or loss of appetite; losing weight without trying; needing to pee more often or urgently. It's unlikely you have cancer, but it's best to check with a GP if you have been feeling bloated, particularly more than 12 times a month; you have symptoms of ovarian cancer that will not go away; you are over 50 or have a family history of ovarian cancer."

Some TIPS (gedditt!) from a lifetime of SBT
Don’t need contrast in 🎈 - makes it harder to deflate
Use water not air- can’t see the latter leak
Place by driving tube down with endoscope, retro flexing- check 🎈 in stomach then inflate and remove endoscope.

I spoke recently to a consultant who was spending a large part of their week writing letters and dealing with admin as they had no support staff. Not a great use of their time. NHS knows the cost of everything and value of nothing.
Today our trust announced that they are making lots of admin people redundant. These are the people that do really important jobs.
Are clinical staff having to do this too??
I know it’s in the financial shit…but that is because of govt funding.
