“Pick yourself up by your bootstraps you losers!”
Yeah we all remember that and I also remember not being stupid enough to think the government could fix it all for me. I remember having four roommates while I was a young Navy SEAL and saving money on my first deployment to Iraq to buy my first home. I remember when people didn’t believe that someone else should pay for some make-believe lifestyle we thought we deserved…because we believed we had to figure it out ourselves. I also remember when Republicans were honest enough to tell people the truth and fight for policy that would have long term benefits even if unpopular in the short term. If anyone thinks the lesson about “affordability” in this election is just becoming more populist and more liberal, then go join the Democrat party. They’ll be happy to have you, bribing voters with promises of free crap. Or…do a better job making the economic case for what you know is right. I’m still team Trump. Why? Because his policies are grounded in the long term, not the convenient short term. GOOD. Double down on the agenda. Who cares if we lost the midterms? Nothing changes. We already had a deadlocked Congress anyway. And how about you supposed “conservative commentators” tell the truth about issues like affordability? Republicans made sure the average family of 4 didn’t see a $10,000 increase in taxes last year. *Money that Democrats voted to take from you.* Republicans push for permitting reform and deregulation. Supply side policies that decrease inflation long term. Tariffs suck in the short term but in the long term will bring manufacturing here. Biden and his Democrats caused 9% inflation. The high prices you see now? Guess what, 76% of that higher price is from the Biden years. The rest is gas prices which admittedly is caused by the actions in Iran. GOOD. All I have to pay is 30% higher gas and I get to make sure Iran can’t point a nuke at me?? GOOD. By the way, lots of other consumer goods are cheaper. Prescription drugs are 4.5% LOWER. The biggest cost increases are housing and healthcare. Why? Because Obamacare wrecked the healthcare market and blue states make it impossible to permit new home building. But who cares about the facts, right? Good job, Texas! Say goodbye to your low cost of living and pro-business reputation. And thank the braindead right wing populists that threw their votes away in protest (also thank Paxton for running the worst campaign ever….). Republicans need to stop running away from good policy and principles just because it MIGHT win an election. Thats the Democrat way. Fuck that. Stick to principle. And LEARN HOW TO ACTUALLY EXPLAIN GOOD POLICY TO VOTERS. The moronic consultant class told the GOP to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on transgender ads instead of the economy. Incredibly stupid. Let’s learn some lessons, but for God’s sake learn the RIGHT lessons.

Election night cannabis recap: - Massachusetts voters overwhelmingly rejected Question 8, which would have repealed legal recreational marijuana sales, with roughly 75% voting against it. - Idaho voters rejected a constitutional amendment that would have prohibited future citizen-led marijuana legalization initiatives. - Democrats secured control of the House, Senate and governor's office in both Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, opening a clear path to recreational marijuana legalization in 2027 following years of opposition from Republican lawmakers in the state. - Texas voters elected Gina Hinojosa as the state's first governor who openly supports legalizing recreational cannabis, defeating three-term incumbent Greg Abbott. - Iowa voters elected Rob Sand, who will become the state's first governor who backs recreational marijuana legalization. - Several states, including South Carolina and Maine, elected for the first time U.S. senators who support federal marijuana legalization, adding more pro-reform voices to Congress. - Over 70% of Houston voters approved a measure making low-level marijuana possession the city's lowest law enforcement priority.

Pro tips for Election Day while you wait for polls to close: 1) Stop touching grass. Don’t go for a walk. Don’t exercise. Go home. Keep scrolling Twitter all day. The next tweet you see down your feed will definitely tell you what’s going to happen before anyone else knows. 2) Trust anonymous accounts. They are the most reliable sources of information today. 3) Overreact to everything. If you see someone say there are long lines at a Republican-heavy precinct, assume it’s a red wave nationally. If you see someone say a precinct is empty in a rural area, confidently declare that Democrats will win a supermajority in the Senate. 4) Anecdotes are to be trusted and extrapolated. Especially if they are from anonymous accounts (see #2), and especially if they are about how busy precincts are (see #3). Bonus points if they have a hammer and sickle or an American flag in their bio. 5) Don’t drink water. The whole “drink eight cups a day” adage is just Big Water™️ industry trying to make money off of you gullible sheep. Drink only coffee and energy drinks. Maybe a Four Loko circa 2010 if you can find one. 6) Look at the clock a lot. Contrary to popular opinion, time does go faster when you are watching the time.

Nebraska should elect this guy. AI will be one of the most important political issues of the next decade and he’s already on it.
If we want AI to work for us, then we need to elect people who aren’t in the pockets of these tech billionaires that wanna take over the world.

I live in very red Montana. My whole adult life there has been many races that were too close to call and I went to bed before the ballot counting was finished. People want to pretend this isn’t an accurate and normal occurrence but they’re just being dumb.
If you go to bed on election night and don't know who won a midterm congressional race, that's normal. And if you wake up the next morning and find that a candidate who was behind hours earlier has since pulled ahead, that's normal, too. (via @PolitiFact) to.pbs.org/4zqnWBa

Craziest football play I’ve ever seen
As far as game-winning sports plays go, it can't get crazier than what happened in Whitesboro, New York on Friday night (via chelanvanno, philly_j_vans_ / IG)

Every day there’s a new AI announcement that seems like the perfect start to a dystopian sci-fi horror movie.
today, we introduce a little mischief to the world. for four years, we’ve been brewing real brain cells on electrodes to understand how they compute. now, we’ve turned those discoveries into a video model anyone can use. from 0.5¢ a second, mischief 1 is at least 5x faster than its base and the cheapest image-to-video model on @fal and @OpenRouter. soon to be on @awscloud marketplace. it’s not a delusion anymore. biocompute is real, commercial and this is just the beginning. happy halloween.

Instead of getting a little sticker after you voted, you should get a QR code that you could somehow enter into your TV and it would no longer display political ads.

Ah yes, at the many blue collar jobs I did we always used to say “when I make it big I’m gonna build a house with Cheesecake Factory decor”
Does Obama not understand that to most Americans the Cheesecake Factory is a very nice and fancy restaurant?

Bankhead and Bodnar have thoroughly cooked their chances of ever being elected in future Montana races. What a disaster by them and Montana Democrats.
Democrat Alani Bankhead says she was offered a job to drop out of the Montana Senate race "They offered to be ... the DNC's head of female veteran candidates or something like that. And I was like: 'Why would I go work for an organization that is actively working against me and stabbing me in the back" (reposted with correct spelling)
