This is Charles Moore. In June 1947, he helped launch a military test balloon that later crashed on a ranch 70 miles northwest of Roswell, NM. Moore's Roswell balloon eventually became a myth about a crashed spaceship and dead alien bodies.

able-bodied persons had better wake up to the (inevitable) fact that if they/we live long enough, we will be disabled; & if we live longer, we will be severely disabled. this MAGA/GOP war against "disabled" persons is actually terrifying. you may think that you are 100% healthy but, face it, you are one bloodwork or CAT-scan away from un-healthy. one hour in your life can alter it forever. have some sympathy for the disabled & what this administration is threatening before it is too late.

The contrast between Reagan’s speech at Point-Du-Hoc and Pete Hegseth today are like two different galaxies. Listen to how much reverence he gives to the same allies that Hegseth attacks.

Sorry, Big Wellness, but one of my biggest pet peeves is pitting lifestyle habits against medical treatment. That’s not how real life works. You don’t have to choose between taking care of yourself and taking medication. And pretending you do isn’t empowering, it’s misleading. I get it, though. It’s a great way to sell supplements, detoxes and more. 🤷🏽‍♀️

So let me get this straight: Dr. Casey Means, Trump’s nominee for Surgeon General, failed to disclose her lucrative financial ties to supplement companies while her family quietly invested in Big Tobacco. We’re talking hundreds of thousands of dollars pocketed through wellness endorsements and affiliate deals. You cannot make this up. And her brother, Calley? The same Calley Means who spends every waking hour blasting physicians for “conflicts of interest” even down to a free sandwich at a medical conference. He rails against pharma, trashes doctors, positions himself as the moral compass of medicine… yet when it comes to his own sister? Crickets. And let’s be real: she’s only pledging to divest because she has to. That’s not proactive ethics, that’s damage control. So apparently disclosure standards only matter when they’re useful to the MAHA narrative. That’s not integrity. That’s a double standard so thick a scalpel couldn’t cut through the BS.

It would shock you to learn how many grown people can't read on even a basic level. The removal of early phonics instruction in the 2000s, combined with the rise of smartphones, has killed mass literacy. This will have consequences we're only beginning to fathom.
the 23 year old pilates instructor couldn’t pronounce my name so i gave her the phonetic spelling & she said “yeah that doesn’t help, idk if i know how to read, i don’t really know how words sound” and i was like oh so you just don’t know phonics and she said WHATS THAT

One thing that's clear from the online debate over whether the left or the right is more violent is that many people have an encyclopedic command of the attacks perpetrated by the other side, and have memory-holed attacks by their co-ideologists.

#childhoodvaccines Every parent who has taken their child to a pediatrician hears an explanation. Here are things we know that have caused trouble or killed children in the past: these are the vaccines that will prevent those illnesses, including whooping cough, polio, measles, German measles, and hepatitis. There is a clear directive about what vaccines are added to the schedule. This schedule undergoes multiple reviews by legitimate scientists, not conspiracy theorists. Parents are getting really confused and losing confidence in these life-saving vaccines. This is a tragedy wrought entirely by Secretary Kennedy. @NBC @kwelkernbc youtu.be/9JS_g1fKW7Y?si=N12Q…

When political leaders can dismiss Nobel Prize-winning science with false claims, when proven technologies are abandoned for ideological reasons, the foundation of evidence-based policy crumbles. quillette.com/2025/08/08/rfk…

why do they put such faith in quack medical notions while undermining faith in evidence-tested medicine? a research scientist once marveled at the fact that people will take time to delve into a quack "science" like astrology when they could be using the same time to learn about a legitimate science like astronomy, astrophysics, biology, botany--anything!--anything not nonsense. this perversity in so many fellow Americans is truly bewildering & sad to say, may prove tragic to many of us.

Wow, some scholars are hiding messages in their manuscripts to LLMs who may be used to review the paper. If there is a way to cheat, people will find it.
