An update regarding God of War Laufey's release date.
ALT Since the reveal of God of War Laufey in June, we've been deeply grateful to see so much excitement for Faye's journey through the Everywhen. We don't take for granted the trust placed in our studio to make an extraordinary experience worthy of the passion and dedication of our fans. With this in mind, we've made the decision to delay God of War Laufey's release to May 20th, 2027. We will make the most of each moment until then by putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential. Final Fantasy Resonance was one of my most anticipated games for the end of the year. So happy to see it getting such good reviews and capturing that JRPG spirit I fell in love with as a kid ❤️
But buying it feels bittersweet. I chose the Switch version to own the game on cartridge, even though I’d much rather play the enhanced Switch 2 version.
Why should keeping a proper cartridge mean missing out on those improvements? There’s no upgrade path — I’d have to buy the game again. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake got a free update with Switch 2 improvements. Why couldn’t we have something similar here?
And what happens when Square Enix stops releasing games on the original Switch? I bought Elliot on PS5, but with new PlayStation disc releases ending in January 2028, that alternative won’t last either.
I love these games. It’s sad to feel that collecting them the way I always have is becoming harder.
Please, @SquareEnix , reconsider. We shouldn’t have to choose between owning the cartridge and enjoying the better version.
Imagine getting a GoW trilogy remake announced only to find out it's will almost certainly be digital only... diabolical.

These are being made by Sony Santa Monica but there were rumors of external studio work
Official information reveals early work has begun earlier this year
Considering the original rumors began in 2023 they might have a good chunk there with maybe a proper reveal in 2027 after Laufey maybe even at the PS6 showcase if that happens next year

I had already accepted it was gonna miss out on this game bc I didn't wanna buy digital from Sony. Then they announce physical for 2027.... There's no way this wasn't done to push digital sales. I swear I find a new reason to hate Sony every day...

While they have benefits over digital (resale value, for example). You don't own any data with GKCs.
Trusting GKCs is trusting faceless corporations to have your best interests at heart. They don't.
