Downtown LA sits at the historic crossroads of Southern California — home to the Tongva Council Tree and the village of Yaanga. Where the San Fernando & San Gabriel Valleys meet the LA Basin, it’s long been the region’s passage point — and is still is today.

We’ve almost banned multifamily housing in states like CA by accident, zoning our way out of solutions. @MaxPodemski says urban housing is the solution we need to face the housing crisis. @KQED buff.ly/3WCYhEH

Can solutions to LA’s housing crisis be found in how we used to design smaller, multifamily dwellings in the past? @MaxPodemski talks about the possibilities with @SaulGonzalezCA on @KQED. buff.ly/3WCYhEH
It was great to talk to Saul about how the traditional types of urban housing found in many neighborhoods can address the housing crisis
Very happy to share this review of my book in the Wall Street Journal: "At a moment when housing-policy battles can seem deadlocked, “A Paradise of Small Houses” conveys a tonic sense of what is, or has been, possible." wsj.com/arts-culture/books/a…

Why does LA have so much architectural variety compared to other big cities? @MaxPodemski says it goes back to Midwesterners who escaped from the East to reinvent themselves in Southern CA. Architecture became a means of expression. buff.ly/49kE7C0
