@anondotinc just made RAILGUN_ Ledger compatible, for real. Your key never leaves the Ledger.
I suspect the magicians at @zknoxhq had a hand in this.
There are still builders shipping things that matter.

Wallet 101 #1: your wallet doesn't actually hold your crypto 📚
This surprises a lot of people, so let's start here.
Your tokens don't live inside your wallet app the way photos live on your phone. They live on the blockchain, as entries on a public ledger that says "this address owns this much".
What your wallet holds is the key. Specifically, a private key that proves you control that address, and lets you sign transactions that move what's there.
That's why a few things that sound scary are actually fine:
🔹 Deleting the app doesn't delete your funds.
🔹 Losing your phone doesn't lose your crypto, if you have your recovery phrase.
🔹 You can open the same wallet in a different app, using the same phrase.
And it's why one thing is much scarier than it sounds:
Anyone who gets your recovery phrase or private key gets everything. They don't need your phone, your password or your app.
So protect the key, not the app.

so what are we actually doing about privacy at ZKX? quick, honest rundown.
every ZKX wallet has two modes. Public Mode works like any wallet you're used to. Private Mode, built on Railgun, gives you a private balance with its own 0zk address. what you hold and send there isn't laid out for anyone browsing an explorer.
moving funds in is called shielding. you pick the route: Fast takes about 2 minutes, Slow takes about 60 minutes with a lower fee. gas is covered by default, so you don't need to juggle native tokens just to get started.
the part we care about a lot: private doesn't mean anything goes. Private Mode uses Private Proof of Innocence (POI), which helps keep known illicit funds out of the private pool. that's why you'll sometimes see a POI sync in the app. it's there for a reason.
a couple of honest notes: Private Mode works with recovery-phrase accounts, not imported private keys or hardware wallets. and your first private scan can take up to ~15 minutes.
