In 1865, Saint John Bosco had a strange dream. He was in a church full of young people when he noticed a tall, black figure with horns standing near the altar, holding "a magic lantern." Through it, the figure showed each of them something different: their favorite games, books, hometowns, families, friends and even sinful scenes. Don Bosco said the device distracted them so much that it kept them away from the sacraments, especially Communion. The dream is recorded in Volume 8 of Father G. B. Lemoyne's “Biographical Memoirs of Saint John Bosco,” and anyone can read it for themselves.
