I absolutely love the series of PD the JCPS DEP is putting on. So far it's been U of L professors who are knowledgeable and passionate teaching us about their fields of study. I leave each one wanting to learn more.

"If we don't belong to a place, perhaps we belong to each other." I love when you find truth in fiction.

Dear teacher loves, please don't wear strong scents to PD I can taste you. The next 1.5 hours are getting longer by the moment.

Dear KDE and JCPS leadership, We have teachers at max burnout in SEPTEMBER and kids not getting the education they deserve bc of staff shortage. You need to get some of your leaders in classrooms at AIS schools in a hurry.

Why does KDE have 2 experts sitting in an office to monitor our school when they could be teaching?!

If a formal observation is the first time you are in a teachers classroom, then put the evaluation form away. Sit, listen, and then leave a note of thanks, praise or encouragement. Relationships first!

ZERO planning periods this week. 😭😭😭Unsustainable.

The amount of time wasting and frustration that happens because of the lack of staff is mind boggling... And it is only September.

Daughter's bus was on time to the minute!

Our kids are worth the investment. We could potentially fill the staffing shortages with a living wage for support staff! Bus drivers, anyone?
My education plan would raise pay for ALL school staff—from teachers to bus drivers to cafeteria workers—by 11%. That’s the biggest raise for education in 40 years. And a game changer for our schools, students, and communities across the Commonwealth.

Important to know that paying the full costs of busing kids to & from school is a state responsibility under law. But it's one the legislature has skipped since 2005. Despite billions now in the rainy day fund, the state still pays only 70% of these costs in the current budget.

How long have school staff been saying we're at a crisis point when it comes to staffing? Do people think it's just bus drivers that we're short on? Just watch. This is only the beginning.

This. There are good people doing good things with great kids in every school. Most of them are overworked and underpaid, and do it anyway out of love for our children.

I would like there to be more transparency about the routes. Stakeholder input is a standard expectation elsewhere in education; drivers and parents should have had a review period to give input before finalizing routes. Then drivers needed more prep time to adjust.

I appreciate Dr. Pollio's leadership so much. Honesty, accountability, and solutions.

JCPS folks, there is a bid list for EVERYTHING under the sun. Please don't spend your own money, and don't waste your Amazon funds on things you could get much cheaper through bid vendors. Talk to your Bookkeeper! nam12.safelinks.protection.o…

Please be as kind and patient as you can regarding transportation. Every adult is dedicated to making sure every kid gets home safely.
