My takeaways from Manchester NWCSC Innovation Summit It was a fantastic event with keynotes from David Edwards and Edward French. David Talked about AI threats and shared insights on how they can be prevented. Ed talked about cloud vendor risk and it was really insightful. In the panel session with Dr Andrea Cullen and Carl Wood, we talked about education and innovation. There was a strong focus on building industry-relevant skills and improving inclusion in the industry. We also talked about inclusion and accessibility. My key points on accessibility are: - Accessibility should be by design in all cybersecurity education. Also, people from different backgrounds, especially people with disabilities should be included in the process. You can’t build for everyone without including them. - For the job market to be truly inclusive, we need structural changes in the way hiring is done. - Cyber vendors and tools need to be accessible, to level the playing field. People are currently disadvantaged due to inaccessible tools. It was great connecting/reconnecting with my @Cyblackorg people, @dividia_ , @NQBRecruit and others.
