#USA 🇺🇸 x #Yemen 🇾🇪
In Evanston on Nov. 6? See below. @NorthwesternU @Medill_Doc @Brent_Huffman @UNESCOarabic @unescobangkok
DYK: “In 2023, @UNESCO identified Yemen as perhaps the country whose cultural heritage faced the greatest risk. Yemen contains five #UNESCO World Heritage sites & several more under consideration, & UNESCO issued a formal warning that this heritage was gravely endangered. That warning underscored the urgency of documenting both the work and the heritage itself before either might be lost.”

At #MesAynak alone there are over 5,000 years of history, much still buried in the ground. What will happen to this priceless heritage now? What happens when the history of #Afghanistan is erased like this? What happens to the #Afghan people?
