Happy birthday, Dad. Your faith in humanity, your insistence on love over hate, and your belief that everyone can serve continue to renew me. In the darkest of times, your legacy is a light. When I feel hopeless, your spirit carries me. You will forever be in my heart.

We honor the life of Claudette Colvin, whose courageous refusal to surrender her seat as a teenager in Montgomery, Alabama was one of several acts of resistance that challenged segregation before the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Ms. Colvin later became one of the plaintiffs in Browder v. Gayle, the federal case that reached the Supreme Court and led to the end of bus segregation. Her life reminds us that progress is shaped not only by moments, but by sustained courage and truth. May we honor her legacy and continue the work of justice.

It’s official! @BuckhornCreekES is the second EL curriculum partner and the first in Wake to earn the EL credential! I’m so honored to support this school as they continue to get impact in all 3 dimensions of student achievement. Way to go Buckhorn! @ELeducation @WakeElementary
