Huge congrats to @isaraerospace for getting Spectrum to orbit! First launch ever from European soil! 🇩🇪🇳🇴 We’re all wondering what these cables are?

Nobody knows it yet, but this will soon be the largest craft ever to land on the moon.

China is taking the second-best real estate on the Moon. Deliberately skipping the Shackleton–de Gerlache Connecting Ridge where (NASA is landing). Their site has less total illumination but is MUCH closer to the huge Shoemaker and Faustini craters. Less power. More ice. A territorial move.

Same story, different atoll. 18 years later. Poetic.

Congrats @thecjones but what about the moon?
Introducing our tech roadmap at @cosmic_robotics to start autonomous city construction on Mars in the mid-2030s. Our team includes senior talent from SpaceX, Tesla, Google, Amazon, Zoox, Nuro, and Autodesk. We're already deploying robots on large-scale construction sites. Link to roadmap in the thread below:

Nuclear waste is being put to good use in space! One man’s waste is another spacecraft’s treasure.
Surviving the lunar night. Firefly is onboarding @zeno_power on an upcoming Blue Ghost mission to tackle one of the biggest challenges on the Moon: operating through the extreme cold and prolonged darkness of the lunar night. Hosted on our Blue Ghost lander, Zeno’s payload will demonstrate radioisotope and nuclear-powered technologies to extend operations beyond sunset when temperatures can fall below -280°F. fireflyspace.com/news/firefl…

I unfortunately have to agree. After building token(.)com for years. The idea that everyone should trade sounds nice, but doesn’t work. Investing/trading simply requires too much skill and dedication.
Lighter CEO Vlad pushes back on the idea that everybody is going to become a trader "That's like saying, is everybody going to be a poker player? I think it is something you need skills for" "Does that mean everybody should be trading all day long? Probably not” “Just like how people shouldn't be at the casino all day long but greater access makes markets more efficient, creates opportunities"

Hard disagree. We’d be yielding the South Pole (the most valuable real estate in the Solar System) to the Chinese.

Ok, this is brilliant. Ramjets engines can only start at Mach 2. So these guys shoot one from a cannon to get it going.

Imagine being his age and still so confidently wrong.
Legendary investor Jeremy Grantham just torched SpaceX on 'Diary of a CEO', calling it a “fabulous BS story” that will fail to deliver on its wild prospectus promises — including mining asteroids. BARTLETT: “You think SpaceX will fail?” GRANTHAM: “I think it would fail to deliver anything like its promises in the perspectives. Yes, absolutely.” “SpaceX is such a fabulous BS story. Mining asteroids… It’s the classic description of a market peak. It’s what you look for at the top of a terrific bubble.” “He [Elon] is so good at BS that he took Tesla stock up to four or five times what it was worth on paper. Sold a ton at those inflated prices to build the gigafactory. It became a self-fulfilling prophecy. Now SpaceX requires him to do the same again.” “That’s what he says about the asteroids and everything. Going to Mars is not within the laws of physics. It’s a one-way ticket… You have to protect yourself against cosmic rays and gravity issues. We’ve never built a sustainable dome here on Earth — they all fail. We’re destroying this planet, yet we think we can colonize one that’s infinitely more hostile.” “That’s the really bad news embedded in your stock — pure fantasy at the exact time our own planet is under threat.” BARTLETT: “Would you ever invest in SpaceX?” GRANTHAM: “Yeah, of course… if it came down to 10 cents on the dollar.”

SciFi becomes reality.
Continuous sunlight is scarce on the Moon unless you know where to look. 🌑 The lunar poles contain "peaks of eternal light," areas bathed in near-continuous sunlight. Power Tower mounts on Blue Moon MK1's top deck and extends solar arrays to 26 meters total height to capture that energy and deliver sustained power for Moon Base operations. Check out this video of Power Tower during a successful deployment in an analog lunar environment. The infrastructure era of lunar exploration starts now.

Outside the XR bubble people will see this and say "ew". That's ok - these glasses look bad. But that misses the point: shipping this much compute and battery in such a tiny form factor is a massive improvement over the past 10 years. I just wish these were marketed as a devkit
