Mer Pol Mounted

We wanted to let you know that we are now also on Instagram! Follow us @merseypolicehorses 🐴❤️

🎃🩶 I think I’ve kept you all waiting long enough…Introducing our newest recruit - Sylvia! 🩶 Sylvia is an 8 year old grey Percheron mare, standing at 17hh and as you can see she’s a bit of a character! #StandTall #Sylvia #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses

🎃🩶 A little sneak peek… Look what we found hiding in the pumpkin patch! Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow for their official announcement! #StandTall #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses #PumpkingPatch #Pumpkins

Mucked out, bed brushed back, rehung his haylage net & cleaned his water system… Did Owen move an inch? Nope! When our horses stay asleep while we work around them, it’s the biggest compliment. It shows they feel safe, secure & relaxed in their environment #StandTall #PHOwen

Little and Large aka Albie and Walter enjoying a little mutual groom this afternoon! Albie is one of our smallest horses standing at 16.1hh and Walter (last time we measured him) is 17.3hh! #StandTall #PHAlbie #PHWalter #MerpolMounted

Post-workout refreshments…Scottie style! Forget the fancy drinks… nothing beats a bit of fresh rainwater straight off the horsebox! (Disclaimer- Scottie does have a clean fresh automatic water system in his stable 😂) #StandTall #PHScottie #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses

Wind & torrential rain in Toxteth didn’t deter Owen, Beau &our officers today! They stopped a driver who was using their phone while driving. Our officers have to improvise sometimes, finding a way to get straight back to their duties! #StandTall #PHOwen #PHBeau #MerpolMounted

Can anyone answer us this… Teddy has abandoned his massive memory foam bed for a tiny plastic bowl on the window ledge. Is he just a cat, or are we missing something? #StandTall #PCTeddy #MerpolMounted #PoliceCat #IfTeddyFitsHeSits

Beau is definitely making the most of a peaceful morning after working a late shift at Anfield last night! #StandTall #PHBeau #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses #LazyMorning

While Arnie visited his own Crescent at the weekend, Albie, Oxberry and their colleagues were busy patrolling the Everton Vs Chelsea match! #StandTall #PHArnie #PHAlbie #PHOxberry #MerpolMounted

Clipping season is well under way here on Merseyside! This morning it was Beau’s turned for a clip, bath and solarium session! #StandTall #PHBeau #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses #ClippingSeason

Brego has impeccable (s)table manners! He even wipes his mouth after his supper. #StandTall #PHBrego #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses #SupperTime

A #ThrowbackThursday to 2019 when Elvis loved showing off his party trick of opening the locker room door! At 18hh, his size was matched only by his cheeky personality! We sadly said goodbye in 2020, aged 15. 🧡 #StandTall #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses

Today Arnie, Oxberry and our officers patrolled around the L8 area. While out on their Hight Visibility Patrol they spoke to members of the community! #StandTall #PHArnie #PHOxberry #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses

🔔 SOUND ON! There’s nothing more satisfying than that post football patrol sugar free polo! #StandTall #PHSilver #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses #NoSoundEffectsNeeded @NestleUKI

Did you know we have a small connection to The Horse of The Year Show? One of our Horses and officers - Illustrious & Constable Fry won Police Horse Of The Year in 1990 and 1996 @wearehoys #StandTall #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses #HOYS2026 @hoystweet

Why Diamond…just why? #StandTall #PHDiamond #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses #TheJoysOfOwningAGrey

A little #ThrowbackThursday to 2020, when Arnie gave one of our offices a small and subtle hint that he wanted some more scratches! #StandTall #PHArnie #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses

Today we had our amazing osteopath Grace visit the yard. All our horses receive regular back checks & osteopathy treatments to help keep their joints and muscles supple, healthy and moving freely. It all helps to keep our horses feeling their best and in tip-top condition.

This evening, Silver, Beau and our officers attended the passing out ceremony for our newest @MerseyPolice officers. Congratulations to all the new officers! #StandTall #PHSilver #PHBeau #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses

Sorry our page has been a little bit quiet this week — I’m currently off on some annual leave! ☀️ Our normal content will be back on Wednesday! 🐴 #StandTall #PHSilver #MerpolMounted #PoliceHorses #AnnualLeave
