The government’s trans policy guidance for schools was meant to be published this summer.
I asked the Education Secretary how many times she’s met about it with LGBT+ organisations.
The answer: zero. Not once.
That’s how much contempt the Tories have for the LGBT+ community.
The EHRC recently made changes to their technical guidance for how schools in England should implement the Equality Act 2010. We look at what this might mean for trans young people.

It is important to note that the law has not changed, nor is this the long-awaited trans schools guidance promised by the UK Government.

We are appalled to hear that the Home Secretary is questioning the legitimacy of LGBTQI+ people claiming asylum in the UK. Many #LGBTQ+ people that we support every day tell us how they faced life-threatening situations back home.

Mermaids has been supporting transgender, non-binary and gender-diverse young people since 1995 and has been a registered charity since 2015.
Given the significant growth and change we have experienced in that time, and following our report into equity, diversity and inclusion, the trustees decided to commission a comprehensive, independent review of our governance.
We knew that doing so would invite ever more scrutiny into our organisation at an already difficult time. However, we felt it important that we face our challenges head-on.
We are pleased today to share their report, which you can read on our blog: mermaidsuk.org.uk/news/new-m…
