Ignoring the s-word for a second, let's continue to appreciate the much-needed rain occurring this week across the north. It may take a week or two for the drought monitor to update, but this rainfall is huge for putting out the remaining wildfires, and reversing the groundwater deficit primarily in the Upper Peninsula. Here on November 3rd, 2026, our rainfall outlook through Friday the 6th shows over 1" incoming for the northern half of the state. Passing showers and storms to the south will make totals very hit-or-miss. Areas in the <0.25" or 0.25-0.5" zones will likely see a few overachievers, but like we mentioned yesterday, confidence in exactly where is too small to put it on a map. Better to just say it out loud instead. Getting back to the s-word, snow will likely mix in late Thursday night as a strong north wind kicks in behind the departing low pressure system. Yes, lake effect snow is possible. Preliminarily speaking, totals may exceed 1" in the Huron Mountains. We will have snowfall maps out over the next few days as needed. Are we sure it's November 3rd?! We're officially into November, but Mother Nature seems to have other plans! Temperatures are climbing into the 70s across parts of Lower Michigan today, while much of northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula enjoy highs in the 60s. Southerly winds are helping bring this unusually warm air into the state, with some locations approaching record highs for the date! Not exactly what you'd expect from November in Michigan, but we're not complaining! Who's enjoying this bonus round of warm weather?
