Mortgage rates are over 7% because the Trump administration decided to give away $1 trillion in tax breaks to corporations and the wealthiest people in the country, blew up the deficit while doing so.
It's not even that they tried and failed to lower costs. It's that their choices have actively, directly increased costs. And as you can tell from the president's performance today, they don't care.
