I just wrapped up a great panel discussion at the 2026 Virginia Veterans & Military Affairs Executive Forum in Richmond, where I joined James Syring of Avio USA and Gary Patton of CACI International to discuss how Virginia can win the military talent race through veteran hiring, workforce development, defense innovation, and strengthening our military and defense economy.
Thanks to the @VAChamber, @VaVeteransSvc, and @VaVetFoundation for bringing us together as we work to keep Virginia the #1 place for veterans, military families, and business.

I’m proud to have the most talented, hardest-working cabinet in Virginia’s history. They are also the most diverse cabinet Virginia has ever seen.
Every single one of our cabinet secretaries were selected because they’re the best of the best in their respective fields. They also bring invaluable perspectives from across the Commonwealth — from Danville, Hampton Roads, Richmond, NOVA, and more.
I’m grateful to get to work with these incredibly dedicated, hard-working, and talented cabinet officials to serve the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Obama tonight on his Cheesecake Factory line: "They mobilized a whole of government response to that joke. Not to inflation, but to that joke. The White House even called the Secretary of the Treasury. This is the man who is in charge of the economy. The person who's supposed to be figuring out how to make your life more affordable. The guy who's supposed to be figuring out how to lower inflation. And reduce interest rates. They told him he should hold a press conference in front of the Cheesecake Factory."
It was great to celebrate National First Responders Day by spending it with those who serve our communities!
Today, we visited the Harry E. Diezel Fire Training Center in Virginia Beach to witness search-and-rescue personnel training, and I even got hands-on experience with their equipment.
We also met with the Hampton Roads Fire Chiefs Association to discuss our legislative progress on the 42-hour firefighter workweek and other important priorities for the 2027 session.
Thanks to all our first responders for your service and dedication!

Today I joined Senator Jeremy McPike and key energy and environmental stakeholders for our first Demand Flexibility Technical Conference as we begin the work of implementing HB284 and SB371 with Virginia's not-for-profit electric cooperatives.
Thanks to our partners for discussing existing programs, best practices, and opportunities to expand demand flexibility, and most importantly, protect ratepayers.

Today I had the opportunity to recognize Virginia's own Timbaland during his CreatorVerse/Timbaland Way Weekend and present him with House Joint Resolution 190, honoring his incredible career and contributions to music and culture.
CreatorVerse weekend in Virginia Beach brings together music, AI, technology, education, entrepreneurship, and community to inspire the next generation of creators and innovators.
This week, FEMA leadership and the Trump administration signaled that states may soon be expected to handle more disasters with less federal assistance.
During our Joint Subcommittee on Recurrent Flooding this week, I asked VDEM whether Virginia is financially and operationally prepared for this possibility.
This is exactly why passing Delegate @AlexAskew757 HB 169 was so important this year.
We must assess our emergency management needs and prepare for a future where states shoulder more responsibility.

Excited to take the gavel as the new Chair of the Virginia Minority Business Commission!
Thank you to my colleagues and fellow commissioners for their confidence in me, and special thanks to Senator @AWGNorfolk for her leadership as the past Chair.
After reestablishing the Commission through my 2024 legislation, I’m excited to lead its next chapter, opening more doors for minority owned businesses and making Virginia an even better place to start and grow a business!
