PRESS UPDATE📢📢📢 @Material_HM has raised a $7.1M Seed round and awarded a $1.25M Phase II SBIR contract with the U.S. Air Force to rethink how energy is made. For too long, product design has been dictated by the battery. MATERIAL is making energy adaptable to the product, unlocking new freedom in performance, endurance, and design. This is just the beginning.

Working in collaboration is the only way, link arms and arms. LFG!
Today in Washington, D.C., we brought together leaders from government, industry, and the investment community for the first Energy Advantage forum. The premise was simple: Energy security is national security, and America’s ability to produce, innovate, and adapt must become a strategic advantage. At MATERIAL, we’re working to fundamentally change how batteries are designed and manufactured, with the ambition of transforming America’s domestic energy storage capabilities. But working on the problem firsthand makes one thing clear: technology alone won’t solve it. The challenges span industrial capacity, supply chains, investment, defense requirements, and national strategy. Progress depends on connecting efforts that too often operate independently. That’s why we helped convene Energy Advantage. Not because we have all the answers, or because we should lead the national conversation, but because we saw an opportunity to bring together people who each hold an important part of the solution. Our ambitions are significant, but the national challenge is larger than any one company. Sometimes the most meaningful contribution we can make is connecting people who can accomplish far more together than any of us can independently. My sincere thanks to Under Secretary of the Army Michael Obadal, Major General Christopher Schneider, and Joshua Volz from the Department of Energy for their leadership and participation, and to everyone who contributed to today’s discussion. Today was a starting point. The real work is what happens next. energyadvantage.org

@FrancisSuarez can’t believe I have to do this on X because you went Hollywood on me at the event but here goes my question‼️ Two weeks ago, Kevin had the Miami Foundation speak to us there at Hut8, and their origin story was astounding. Started 14 years ago, birthed after the Knight Foundation commissioned a study noting that Miami had the LOWEST civic engagement of the top-30 most populous cities in America. 🇺🇸 Considering that occurred during both of your tenures at the city and county levels respectively, I wanted to ask you what you and your father attribute that to? I am not in ANY way blaming you for those metrics, you’re just 2 people, but I want to know your thoughts. Was hoping to ask as you talked about the 4th (current) era of Miami…

Proud to show @SBA_Kelly what our team at MATERIAL is building in Miami. American-made, conformal batteries. Less foreign dependence. More capability for the mission. Thanks for spending time with our team and discussing what it takes to scale U.S. manufacturing.

Let's go, congratulations team!
I'm excited to announce that Thoron has raised $2M in pre-seed funding to build the American reference standard drone system for utilities. The round was led by @AvistaUtilities with participation from @oviohq , @allianceangels, Spokane Angel Alliance & Ignite Northwest, and others. As power grid demand reaches historic highs, American energy dominance and sovereignty depend on the adoption of new technologies. At the same time, regulatory changes have sharply limited access to the high-quality, operator-first drone systems utilities rely on. We built Thoron to put vertically integrated, AI-enabled aircraft directly in operators’ hands, strengthening our power grid and ensuring the US leads the future of energy. We’ve assembled a world-class team to tackle these challenges and rapidly prototype alongside major U.S. partners. This funding will accelerate our development pipeline, scaling us from functional prototypes to real customer deployments.

News flash, building a factory like its 1960 is probably not a good idea. Building a bot farm is better.

I got in a lot of trouble with the comms head at Mercedes at the time because back then the only people who could speak to the press were Toto, @LewisHamilton , or @NicoRosberg ... but I had to do it. Turns out I inspired 3 Miami-native F1 engineers from that article. Price worth paying imo.

"The acquisition community needed implementing clauses, a way to identify covered entities, cost-accounting rules, certification processes, and instructions for embedded batteries. Industry needed those answers before committing capital. The factory needed to start before the rule was final; the investor wanted the rule final before funding the factory. -Lets- stop calling it a policy gap. Everyone had a rational reason to wait. Together, those reasons guaranteed failure."

Slow mo speeds (100mm/s)… We designed and built our own print heads too, which takes away the logistical stressors of sourcing heads from Europe at 5x the cost. This is our first test of the new head.
