Wishing all the best to our striker Kauã Elias, who had a foot fracture and will require surgery ❤️‍🩹

Great to know that the world sees the extent of the injustice Shakhtar faced (2.5 million views and counting). The VAR referee is not fit for his job and should be banned from being involved in any professional football game again, let alone at Champions League level.

Coming back from Sporting and Inter Games with 0 points is one of the most painful Shakhtar experiences of the last few years. We deserved at least 2 points from those games

Arda Turan is right. It is brave of the coach to call out the referee mistake. However, it was his decision to play a striker who couldn’t score from three meters away twice in the game. Had Luca Meirelles started, we probably wouldn’t even be talking about this penalty

For team in exile playing a 17:45 kick off match against one of the less known opponents, this is a remarkable attendance. Thank you to all who came!

Poor attendance in the away end last night explained here

100% penalty not given today. Of course it’s not an excuse for our loss, but this decision from both the main referee and the VAR official is difficult to explain.

Shakhtar once again come short after a decent perfomance against a much stronger opponent. Some individual performances today were shocking. Marlon Gomes wasted so many counter attacks by just dragging the ball. Alisson was incredibly unlucky not to score on multiple occasions. The biggest shock today is the fact that Kaua Elias keeps starting games. To make matters worse, he played for the entirety of 90 minutes. He missed two certain chances and should have come off a long time ago. A player who scores his only goals of the season against UPL relegation side is not good enough to start for Shakhtar. Shakhtar really locked a flair midfielder today, someone like Pedrinho. All the danger was coming from the wings and it was easy for Sporting to shut down. The big positive was Vinicius Tobias, with arguably his best ever game for Shakhtar. Sadly a shocking refereeing mistake denied Shakhtar a penalty today.

Really good first half. So happy to see Mendoza crossing and trying to play with his left foot more. Nazaryna looked solid. We would like to see Luca Meirelles in the second half. Shakhtar need a clinical finisher in this game. What do you think about this game so far?

Surprised to see Nazaryna start. Arda Turan likely wants more defensive solidity in transition, and will no doubt look for Isaque to exploit the opposition’s tired legs in the second half. No surprises otherwise. What do you think about this lineup?

🗣️ Arda Turan insists Sporting CP's temporary managerial change won't alter his game plan for tomorrow's clash! Speaking at the pre-match press conference, he expressed respect for interim manager Tiago Fernandes but made it clear his system stays locked in—despite any potential disorganisation from the opposition. 👇 What do you think? Should Shakhtar take advantage and play more aggressively?

A great move for Shakhtar’s former coach. Fortunately, he won’t be in the dugout against Shakhtar on Tuesday

Alisson had two world class finishes today. What a player we have on our hands.

Great to see a bit of rotation. Unfortunately Kryskiv is still preferred to Smetana and Tsukanov

This is one of the most important events of the last decade for the club. Shakhtar can now offer young Brazilian players not just regular game time in the Champions League, but a direct pathway to the Brazil national team. Convincing talented youngsters to join Shakhtar has become a lot easier. In addition, if these players do get game time for Brazil, Shakhtar can request a more significant transfer fee for them. Arda Turan should take a lot of credit. It is under him that Marlon and Alisson became a top quality players. Today is a fantastic day for Shakhtar Donetsk. Congratulations to Marlon and Alisson!

Eguinaldo is training with the team again 👀

This is one of the most exciting staff acquisitions in recent years. Shakhtar’s academy has been very underwhelming in the recent years. It was Van Leuwen who set the groundwork for the academy that produced the likes of Mudryk& Sudakov. It’s great to have Patrick back onboard

Strong Shakhtar can only exist with strong Dynamo. We sincerely wish the Kyiv club to return to their former glory. Unfortunately, this is impossible with the current ownership. Stagnation is the best case scenario their fans can hope for. With ambitious projects like Polissya and Kharkiv, a regular decline to 3/4th place in the league is the most realistic outcome. With questionable transfers, over reliance on the academy and the owners blaming anyone but themselves, it’s hard to see where the improvement will come from.
