For years I have been trying to explain to people that in true and pure Setswana we don’t have sangomas but I didn’t have the English.
Often people would say it’s the same thing, it’s just that we call them “ngaka” and it’s gent not the same. Because you don’t go in a room and “consult” and they don’t talk to ancestors.
You tell them what’s wrong and they give you a herb and it’s always some plant or tree. No animals are involved. No bones are thrown. Just herbs and chats, much like the Khoi and San. I need someone with good English and understanding of what I’m saying to explain it 🕊️😭
