Always a pleasure to share my thoughts on Nigeria's Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF), designed to help 🇳🇬 mobilize resources & align public-private financing with its SDGs & Dev't Plan. Enhancing efficiency in public expenditure is key to accelerating the #SDGs.
It was indeed a timely and fruitful engagement with bilateral & multilateral dev't partners under the umbrella of Nigeria Development Partners Group (NDPG). With partnerships and strong institutions, 🇳🇬 can unlock its full potential, turning ambition into tangible results.
Nigeria’s transformation will depend not only on national ambition, but on the capacity of states to translate it into inclusive growth and better lives.
This week, the NDPG engaged the Nigeria Governors’ Forum on state-level transformation and how dev't partners can align more effectively with state priorities. Reflections from @UN_Nigeria HC/RC @MohamedFall on elections also underscored the governance dimension; that lasting progress requires trusted institutions and processes that strengthen legitimacy.
This is the value of the NDPG; bringing together the @UN_Nigeria system and partners, including @EUinNigeria, @gatesfoundation, @CanHCNigeria, @GERinNigeria, @UKinNigeria, @EmbEspAbuja, @NorAmbNigeria, @WBG_Nigeria, @giz_gmbh, @AfDB_Group and more, to build greater coherence around Nigeria’s development priorities.
Grateful to the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, UN Nigeria HC/RC and all NDPG partners for advancing better alignment, stronger state capacity and development that delivers for people.
Mamdani: Whenever I talk about raising taxes on the wealthiest, people will respond with what is generally a myth of capital flight. But the flight that has actually happened: 200,000 Black New Yorkers have left this city in the last few decades. There are so many people who will still tell you they’re New Yorkers, but now they live in South Carolina, they live in other parts of the country because they couldn’t afford to live in this city. And you can feel that in neighborhoods across this city, you can feel that in classrooms across the city. And so for me, it’s always ask yourself: How has this city left people behind, and how can we actually start to show up?

Indeed, a day of solemn remembrance of those who lost their lives while serving humanity. Their sacrifice reminds us of the need to keep striving for peace and security. Humanitarian workers should never be a target. We honor their sacrifice and reaffirm the call: #NotATarget.
Today we solemnly remember the 23 colleagues and partners who lost their lives 15 years ago in the tragic suicide bomb attack on the @UN House in Abuja. Our thoughts and prayers remain with their families and loved ones. May their souls continue to rest in peace.

The visit to #Maiduguri for the #WorldHumanitariaDay observance, & the Steering Committee meeting of the Peace Building Fund project/ Borno Model, ended on a high. The series of rich cultural displays were excitingly breathtaking. Thanks to H.E. @GovBorno @BornoGovt.
The Peace Building Fund Project Board Meeting in Maiduguri reinforces efforts to consolidate #peacebuilding gains. With @NigeriaGov & partners, I affirm @UN's commitment to protecting the vulnerable, strengthening institutions, & advancing sustainable recovery, #peace & dev't.
I visited the @MSF_Nigeria Cholera Treatment Centre in Maiduguri, & witnessed the dedication of frontline health workers responding to cholera outbreaks & saving lives every day. Protecting health workers & ensuring access to care remain essential to reaching people most in need.
At the @savechildrenNG Stabilization Centre in Maiduguri, I met health workers & patients whose stories reflect both immense challenges & remarkable resilience. Despite funding constraints, humanitarian partners reached nearly 900,000 people in N.E. 🇳🇬 in the 1st half of 2026.
Today, #WorldHumanitarianDay, we lowered the @UN flag in honour of aid workers who lost their lives serving others. In N.E. 🇳🇬 alone, dozens have been killed, and many abducted. Despite the risks, humanitarian workers continue to save lives. #ActForHumanity #NotATarget
So pleased to welcome the new @unesco_abuja Representative to Nigeria/ Head of Office, @isaiasbr to the @UN Country Team. His appointment is timely and it underscores the importance of @UNESCO mandate: #Education, #Science, & #Culture, in accelerating #SDGs progress in #Nigeria.
Democracy thrives when leadership reflects the people it serves. With women constituting the majority of newly registered voters, the next step is ensuring greater representation in governance.
According to @inecnigeria, women make up over 52% of newly registered voters in Nigeria. However, female representation in governance remains critically low.
Let’s translate vote power into leadership power in the coming elections.
