Ledger 9 is live on Midnight Mainnet!
🔹 The upgrade improves network security and performance. To deliver the security fixes through a more controlled release, Midnight deployed Ledger 9 directly to mainnet, skipping the usual Preprod testing period.
🔹 Ledger 9 adds native support for ECDSA and Keccak-256, expands wallet and custody compatibility, and lets smart contracts call each other directly. Developers can now build apps that combine multiple contracts and connect more easily to other blockchains.
🔹 Existing balances and deployed smart contracts migrated automatically.
If you hold cNIGHT on mainnet, there’s nothing you need to do.

1/ Network Update: Ledger 9 is live on Midnight mainnet.
Midnight has completed its upgrade from Ledger 8 to Ledger 9, bringing new capabilities for developers alongside security, compatibility and performance improvements across the network.
Unlike previous upgrades, Ledger 9 has been deployed directly to mainnet, bypassing the standard Preprod deployment and soak period. This approach is used when security fixes require a more controlled release path to protect the network.

What's Coming: Smart contracts that work together. 🤝
Midnight's upcoming upgrade will introduce contract-to-contract execution, allowing smart contracts to call on one another within the same transaction.
This gives builders more ways to extend existing contract functionality, combine reusable components and create more sophisticated smart contracts.

BREAKING🔥: Midnight (@MidnightNtwrk), the privacy-focused blockchain associated with Charles Hoskinson (@IOHK_Charles), has recorded a sharp acceleration in network activity after taking nearly seven months to reach its first 1 million transactions.
The network processed more than 338,000 additional transactions in the seven days leading up to November 3, averaging over 48,000 transactions per day.
The surge signals growing activity across the Midnight ecosystem as it continues to expand following its March launch.

🏦 @okx is running two campaigns built around NIGHT, the token of @MidnightNtwrk, in the same week.
The first: on OKX Outcomes, users who make calls on tech earnings compete for a share of 1M NIGHT in Earnings Week bonuses, sponsored by Midnight. Eligible regions only.
The second went live today: a NIGHT X Drops Club with a pool of 4.5 million NIGHT, announced by @okx_nordics. Users opt in and trade any of ten listed tokens, and trading NIGHT counts with a 5x multiplier.

Cardano and Midnight have it right
From today’s Binance hack, no $ADA or $NIGHT tokens were stolen.
And for a good reason:
- The attackers compromised a hot wallet key and an internal signing service, the same class of breach that has drained other exchanges before. But the ADA and NIGHT balances were not sitting in a simple account style hot wallet. They were held in a Cardano multi signature script (eUTxO) that required an additional on chain authorization from a separate, air gapped key controlled by a different team, plus a timelock that only released after a short challenge window.
- Midnight’s privacy layer added a second practical obstacle: the precise amounts and destination addresses were shielded with zk proofs. The attackers could see that “some” assets existed, but they could not confirm exact balances or craft a clean withdrawal transaction without generating valid selective disclosure proofs they did not possess. By the time they realized the funds were not freely spendable under the compromised key, the internal response team had already rotated the remaining signers and frozen the script.
- The only assets that left the platform were tokens that relied purely on centralized hot wallet controls. ADA and NIGHT stayed put because their movement was gated by on chain script conditions and privacy constraints that the stolen credentials alone could not satisfy.
In short: the keys were compromised, the script conditions and zk requirements were not.

MIDNIGHT OPENS A PRIVACY ROUTE FOR ETHEREUM APPS
Sig Network holds an Ethereum account for each Midnight contract, and independent signers approve only what that contract asks. Assets never leave Ethereum, so apps can still swap on Uniswap or lend on Aave.
