Morteza, second-year PhD student, presented on another component of the above collaboration and his poster focused an upper limb coordination task. This was Morteza’s second time presenting at SCASB and was a vital part of the data collection.

Can you recognize a STRIATAL HAND? Can you differentiate it from a tribal 'horned frog' sign? I am @TCU this morning for the Parkinson Zoota inaugural lecture and it is a great chance to educate. Fantastic article on striatal hands in 2005 by my friend @TheLancetNeuro @JankovicJoseph @Baylor which ironically is in TX. The top panels show a TRIBAL HORNED FROG SIGN usually manifested by current and former students and faculty. The bottom left is dystonia in Parkinson's and the bottom right is dystonia in Wilson's disease. 'Striatal deformities of the hand and foot are abnormal postures common in advanced PD but they can present in early PD and in other parkinsonian syndromes. Over 100 yrs ago, Charcot and Purves-Stewart described. Term striatal is used because pathology in neostriatum which is putamen and caudate and they suggested to be cause.' I would add that this is usually dystonia and it may have its pathogenesis from many 'brain conditions' and many locations in the brain beyond Charcot and Purves Stewart's original assumption it was all neostriatum.' @FixelInstitute @AlbertoEspay @MarkHallett007

When nothing is working, explore and make a lot of small bets. After something starts working, double down on what works best. When that stops working, explore and make a lot of small bets again.

This is spot on. Leadership is a messy, lonely, full-contact sport. A complex social process that involves imperfect people guiding other imperfect people through the gray area. It’s not one size fits all.

Congrats to Kuan and successfully defending his thesis today. He led the project from the get go and analyzed a lot of variables. Going to miss having his charisma and hard work around the lab. #GoFrogs
