I'm on @hangwithbecky to talk about Resident Evil! Fun conversation where we come at the new film from different perspectives. Also a lot of love for the underrated Welcome To Raccoon City. Then I put my Resident Evil knowledge to the test for a quiz!

This entire series looks like it was made for the big screen and it's 50 episodes long, that's insane

The Wing Kong Exchange discussion in @TheHorrorMaster’s 1986 cult classic, Big Trouble in Little China, perfectly showcases the film’s snappy, breakneck dialogue. Discussed on Episode 160 of The #Film89Podcast.

For Crooked Marquee, I celebrated the 35th anniversary of Ernest Scared Stupid by giving it overdue credit for inspiring so much of the kid-somewhat-friendly horror that followed. When Spirit Halloween starts selling denim vests, my job will be done. Read on below.

The ‘Hell of the upside down sinners’ scene in @TheHorrorMaster’s 1986 cult classic, Big Trouble in Little China, showcases the film’s superb and gory practical effects. Discussed on Episode 160 of The #Film89Podcast.

I thought the Hellraiser reboot didn’t work, but lady Pinhead was cool.

Back in February on Episode 146 of The #Film89Podcast, I asked that @ArrowFilmsVideo release an all-singing, all-dancing 4K release of one of my favourite films and just 8 months later, my wish is answered and I have it in-hand! Thank you Arrow Video!

Selling the action gets butts in seats, but YOUR MOTHER is closer to a small scale/indie drama like MISS JUNETEENTH or PIG than JOHN WICK. Maybe that’s counterproductive to say; I just don’t want people showing up expecting Muslim Blade then badmouth it after for being “boring”

In my opinion, no one, absolutely no one, not Pacino, not De Niro, not Nicholson, deliver shouty lines and monologues like George C. Scott. He was the absolute fucking master of shouting.
Essays about Moby Dick: "His entire life is set around trying to kill a certain whale. I think this is sad because the whale doesn’t have any emotions. He’s just a poor, big animal."

Well, how about that! On the most recent episode of Amoeba Records' "What's In My Bag?" series, none other than Elvis Costello proudly pulled a copy of "Treasures of Soviet Animation, Volume 1" out of his shopping bag!
Check out this excerpt, in which Costello talks about how his kids' love of Anime, Manga and horror have opened his mind to new artistic possibilities before calling out the Chatterbird from Roman Kochanov's THE MYSTERY OF THE THIRD PLANET as an especially odd selling point!
Big THANKS to Mr. Costello for checking out our films - hope you and your kids enjoy(ed) them! And extra-special thanks to @amoebarecords not just for the endlessly enjoyable "What's In My Bag?" series, but for proudly stocking Deaf Crocodile films in their store where cool people like Neko Case and Elvis Costello can find them!

From Amadeus best clip ever
One aspect of the film that is often overlooked is that Salieri is also a master musician. He is one of the few people who immediately recognizes and fully appreciates Mozart’s genius.
In this scene, Salieri accurately transcribes every note based on Mozart’s highly condensed instructions. From a technical standpoint, this is an extremely demanding task, requiring extensive musical knowledge, a deep understanding of musical structure, and advanced score-reading and notation skills.
