The report is here. Find out how the CIA and the U.S State Department are involved in funding Afrobeats, using it for political subversion, and causing gentrification in the process, to the point that local fans can no longer afford to book their musical artists in Africa. My latest report for @Spearhead_Af.
Afrobeats And Its Links To US Secret Intelligence Have you ever found yourself wondering why Afrobeats - the joyful soundtrack to the "Africa Rising" era from the late 2000s through the early 2010s - seems to have lost much of its energy and lustre of recent? Does it seem to you like the music no longer belongs to the fans and has become a distant, expensive product that nobody can relate with anymore? You are not imagining it - in fact the reality of what has happened to Afrobeats is a lot darker than you would possibly imagine. Far from just a fresh music genre that embodied the sounds and aspirations of a new generation across the continent, it has been coopted into the arsenal of the US government's extensive foreign influence and interference tools. In fact, your favourite Afrobeats artist, as incredible as it sounds, most likely now has a handler permanently assigned to them by the US State Department. In this special report, The Spearhead Senior Reporter Mckay Chukwu examines a story that has been hiding in plain sight for years, detailing the State Department's well-funded cultural interference infrastructure which has been deployed all over the Global South to bend entire populations and their governments toward the foreign policy goals of the US government.

Characterising crime as GBV is a great way to hype and monitise the issue without solving the actual problem. So many activists, so little crimonologists!
CASE IN POINT | Soul City Institute CEO Phinah Kodisang says South Africa has the resources to respond decisively to gender-based violence and femicide, but argues that government lacks effective solutions to combat the ongoing scourge.

Jacobin doing Marcus Garvey hit pieces? Definitely on brand. The interesting thing is that when the Black Panthers formed, they listed figures they were carrying the torch for, and Garvey was one of them. I mean, Assata mentioned in her memoir how she felt that Garvey wasn’t studied enough in the BPP. Even if their ideologies were not the same, Garvey was and always will be an important figure in the Black Radical Tradition. Part of his critique was that the white working class in America were a bunch of racists so maybe the Jacobin should deal with that part. Africa for the Africans, at home and abroad!

Colonial power does not operate only through armies, military bases and economic control. It also seeks to control how people understand their own reality. Now the U.S. Army has established a new psychological operations company within an Africa focused battalion whose official mission includes influencing the reasoning, motives and behaviour of targeted audiences. This is precisely why I have argued for years that African sovereignty must include sovereignty over information, communications, education and narrative. The battlefield is not only African land and resources. The African mind is a battlefield too.

So, Dutch settlers can openly&publicly destabilize South Africa from within, to the extent of working with a foreign government, based on utter lies, and there is zero consequences from the South African government? Nothing. Wow!

This is amazing. The single most comprehensive register of investors, profiteers and legacies left by those that took part in Britains enslavement of African people. The level of research that must have gone into this is mind blowing. britishslavetraders.org

Mike Benz Links CIA, U.S. State Department, UK Soft Power Funding To African Musicians And Record Labels In this video, taken from a March 22, 2026 livestream, former US State Department official Mike Benz spotlights Nigeria's Chocolate City Music Group as one of the beneficiaries under the US State Department's little-known 'American Music Mentorship Programme' - a semi-clandestine US soft power/influence operation that co-opts music artists and record labels around the world into service to American political objectives. Later this week, The Spearhead's @Big_Mck will be releasing a long-form piece addressing the revelations from the livestream and the wider implications of American foreign influence operations embedding themselves into cultural spaces across Africa and its diaspora. Dr. Curry is right. When is the last time you’ve seen a white social scientist make these arguments? And how do you have a progressive politic that reinforces white supremacist tropes about black men?
Replying to @EtherGemz
Since White straight men are at the top of the intersectionality hierarchy, women of color see white straight men as the only thing that can validate them. And they project that belief onto MOC as if it’s a non white male problem first, but they are the ones that use that analysis to explain why they want to date a white man specifically. How often do you ever see MOC make this argument? Hell, when do you ever see a WHITE person make this argument? The argument that dating a white person is going to increase your quality of life due to “proximity to whiteness”. Majority of the time it’s coming from WOC.
