Japan is making a HUGE, coordinated move toward on-chain finance
For years, Japan has been cautious around crypto. But new regulations, major corporate partnerships, stablecoins and Web3 infrastructure are starting to come together into something much bigger
So what happens when tech giants, banks, regulators and Web3 builders all move in the same direction?
You get the early foundations of a new digital financial system
Startale’s $63M funding round, backed by SBI Group and Sony’s Innovation Fund, is one major signal. At the same time, Japan is moving toward a more predictable 20% flat tax framework for spot crypto, potentially making the market more attractive to institutions
Then there’s stablecoins

But scaling on-chain finance isn’t just about putting assets on a blockchain

BlackRock And Japan's SBI Target a New Yen Stablecoin Link
BlackRock (@BlackRock), SBI Holdings and Startale Group (@StartaleGroup) signed an MoU to explore linking tokenized money market funds with Japan’s $JPYSC stablecoin.
The partnership will examine infrastructure, distribution and regulatory requirements.
According to reports, the goal is to connect traditional financial assets with yen-based digital payments.
Worth noting, BlackRock’s BUIDL fund holds around $2.17 billion in assets, including US Treasurys, overnight repos and cash.
