Ivan Bwowe's attempt to sneak into Parliament as Nakawa West's supposed representative has been thwarted yet again, and Joel Ssenyonyi has no kind words for him. 😂

It's still an allegation, Sir. Singiza has not confirmed it, and no investigative agency has confirmed it either. 😂
Alleged? It’s not an allegation. Guy was caught on camera! And his behaviour before that, is also evidence enough. These ain’t allegations but facts. Facts speak for themselves. @MrBusinge you love that ka word so much 😆

Mr Musa Ecweru’s hostile posture has drawn heavy backlash from local residents and community leaders, who accuse him of political opportunism and framing Lt Gen (rtd) Peter Elwelu to gain state favor following his electoral defeat. links.monitor.co.ug/Izcq1C #MonitorUpdates

I was wondering when this would happen.
UPDATE: Tensions are mounting across the Teso sub-region after former Works minster Musa Ecweru, a senior commander of the auxiliary vigilante force known as the "Arrow Boys," issued a public ultimatum demanding that retired former Deputy Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Lt Gen Peter Elwelu, surrender to recognised authorities or face a coordinated hunt. #MonitorUpdates 📹: John Ken Odele

You're a very brilliant young man, Joel, until you're confronted with matters concerning Andrew Mwenda. All of a sudden, your intelligence is rationed. I've noticed this over time.
Why don’t you IGNORE the noise and go about your daily business? If you did, would that stop my grand mother’s cat from coughing?

This is exactly how you came out shouting that the State had indisputable evidence to prove that Dr Besigye was planning to kill Museveni. It has been two years of theatrics.
Private Elwelu was planning to kill the CDF @mkainerugaba. The militia he had recruited have said that in a briefing to them, he said he kills Gen Muhoozi he would be able to take over Uganda. Now he is hiding in the swamps of Teso

Morrison Rwakamba, a Fellow of the Edward S. Mason Program in Public Policy and Management at Harvard University, says it’s perfectly fine for Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, a serving military officer and the country’s Chief of Defence Forces, to chair PLU, a political outfit in form and practice, and that he has a right to participate in the country’s partisan politics. Dr Besigye was right about Uganda’s so called elites.

Now AI has made you feel like you can have and sustain a legal argument but I’ll let that slide and continue asking you relevant questions: You define a pressure group as a body that seeks to influence public opinion and government action without operating as a party. When that body places endorsement registers in 146 districts for one named individual still in uniform, and its chairman is the CDF announcing his own 2031 candidacy, at what point does the “without operating as a party” clause stop applying? Section 16(1) bars a serving officer from being a founder, promoter or member of a political organisation, or holding office in one. You say the Cap. 178 exclusion saves PLU. Does the exclusion still save it when the serving officer is the chairman and the organisation’s public activity is collecting signatures for his presidency? You say Section 97 only requires resignation when an officer “desires to seek political office.” A serving CDF chairs an organisation whose chairman has publicly declared he will stand in 2031 and is collecting endorsements for that purpose. On your reading, has the desire not yet arisen? The High Court held that supporting a serving officer’s ambitions does not, without more, make an organisation an unlawful society. Did the Court also hold that the serving officer himself may lawfully chair that organisation while remaining CDF? Or did it leave that question untouched? Article 78(1)(c) permits a fixed number of officers selected by the Army Council to sit as special-interest representatives. Which previous CDF used that provision as authority to chair a national endorsement structure for his own succession? Again, welcome to PLU where you don’t need your brain or academic credentials.
Your masterly of profanities is what I really concede. I will pivot to the substance and restate as follows: Article 208(2) of the Constitution requires the UPDF to be non-partisan, national in character, and subordinate to civilian authority. Section 16(1) of the Political Parties and Organisations Act (Cap. 178) prohibits a member of the Defence Forces from: -being a founder, promoter or member of a political party or organisation; holding office in one. -speaking publicly on matters of political party or organisation controversy; or canvassing for a political party/organisation or a candidate. - Section 1(2) of the same Act excludes pressure groups and civic organisations from the definition of “political organisation.” A pressure group is a body that seeks to influence public opinion and government action without operating as a party. Section 97 of the UPDF Act (Cap. 330) only requires a serving officer to resign or retire when he or she desires to seek political office. It does not create a blanket ban on all civic association. Article 78(1)(c) expressly permits serving officers to sit in Parliament as army representatives while remaining in uniform — demonstrating that limited, structured participation is constitutionally contemplated. Application to a CDF chairing a civic organisation supporting NRM activities: If the body is genuinely a civic organisation or pressure group that merely supports or influences NRM policy/activities without itself operating “as” a political organisation (i.e., without contesting elections, sponsoring candidates under its own name, or maintaining the internal structures of a party), then section 16 does not automatically apply. The High Court (Justice Wolimbwa, 20 October 2026) has already held that supporting the political ambitions of a serving officer does not, without more, make an organisation an unlawful society. You seem to be trapped in the notion of “If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it is a duck.”!

A former office typist at Ntare School, Ms Peace Kebirungi, spent nine years earning a monthly salary and all accrued benefits, including allowances, without working. She reportedly used a forged university admission letter to request paid study leave, and never returned. Nine years later, she applied for early retirement and received her terminal benefits, including gratuity and monthly pension payments. Ugandans are special.

Gen Peter Elwelu is reaping the rewards for the atrocities he committed against the people of the Rwenzururu Kingdom. You cannot command the massacre of close to 200 innocent people, women and children among them, and expect peace. Blood leaves a mark that rank and medals can't hide. Some crimes follow a man to his grave. And those who live by violence will find that it never stays loyal to anyone. In the end, it comes for everyone. Even those now baying for his blood will have their day of reckoning. It's only a matter of time.

I love how the tweets are cherry picked. Some for hanging and torturing people are laughed off as jokes and even the media doesn't report about them. This one even needed a story!
Muhoozi 'strips' Elwelu of rank, says over 20 Ex-soldiers arrested. Under the UPDF Act, demoting or reducing the rank of a senior ranking officer is strictly governed by rigid military law to protect substantive ranks from arbitrary administrative adjustments links.monitor.co.ug/3H_2ie #MonitorUpdates

HOW DID A P.4 DROPOUT BECOME AN MP? THE FLORENCE NAMBAZIIRA SCANDAL IN SSEMBABULE In January this year, the Electoral Commission declared Florence Nambaziira the duly elected Woman MP for Ssembabule district with 61,638 votes. But votes cannot settle one question: does she meet the education threshold the Constitution sets for every MP? The question currently on every street in Ssembabule is: How did Nambaziira, a woman who by her own admission never sat PLE and holds no UNEB certificate, get cleared by the NRM Electoral Commission chaired by Dr Tanga Odoi, nominated by the Electoral Commission chaired by Justice Simon Byabakama, and declared Woman MP for Ssembabule district? It is not a political question. It is a legal question. What the law says Article 80(1)(c) of the 1995 Constitution and Section 4(1)(c) of the Parliamentary Elections Act, 2005, are clear: A person is qualified to be an MP if they have completed a minimum formal education of Advanced Level (S.6) or its equivalent. Equivalence is defined by law and must be certified by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) in consultation with the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB). A hairdressing certificate is not an equivalent qualification. No certificate at all is an automatic disqualification. The two failures Failure 1: NRM Electoral Commission. Under the NRM Constitution, the Commission must vet academic documents. NCHE equivalence must be attached. How did a file without even a PLE slip past Tanga Odoi's desk? This raises only two possibilities: gross negligence or corrupt inducement. Either is fatal to party integrity. Failure 2: The Electoral Commission. Under Section 13 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, Justice Byabakama's commission has a duty to verify nomination papers. Nomination requires certified academic documents. Who verified Nambaziira's papers? Where is the NCHE certificate? If none exists, the nomination was void ab initio. What the Election Petition will decide The petition now before Justice Dr Christine Akello is not difficult on the law. It turns on three grounds: 1. Lack of qualification: the Petitioner will prove that Nambaziira has no PLE, UCE, and UACE certificates, has no NCHE equivalent. By her own admission. 2. Forgery and false declaration: There are allegations that her camp forged academic documents and forced people to sign fake Declaration (DR) forms. If proven, this is criminal under Section 12 of the Parliamentary Elections Act and the Penal Code. 3. Violence and intimidation: Tales of security agents aligned to her beating and torturing her competitors’ agents. If proven, this would be criminal and would breach Section 61 (illegal practices). If any one ground is proved, the election must be nullified. The bigger question: Who is behind her? Florence Nambaziira alone could not get past two electoral commissions. Who pushed her file through Tanga Odoi's office? Who pushed her through Byabakama's office? Who gave her security agents who beat her competitors’ agents with impunity? That is the shadowy figure Ssembabule must unearth, because this is not about Nambaziira’s education. It is about a system where a nobody can be made MP if they have a powerful patron. Conclusion The NRM, as a party, should be embarrassed. Not because Nambaziira is a hairdresser, hairdressing is honest work, but because her candidature mocks every girl in Ssembabule who stayed in school to acquire a Senior six certificate. We hope Justice Akello will do what Tanga Odoi and Byabakama failed to do: apply the law as written. For Ssembabule’s sake, and as a warning to future electoral commissions: Article 80 cannot be mocked.

In August 2025, Dr Besigye and Lutale petitioned the Judicial Service Commission, headed by Judge Douglas Singiza, seeking the removal of Judge Emmanuel Baguma after he repeatedly denied them bail and ignored an earlier bail application filed in April 2025. They also accused Baguma of being incompetent, biased and unfair. They told the Commission that their case had been committed to the International Crimes Division of the High Court, but Baguma allocated it to himself in the Criminal Division. They further alleged that he prevented Dr Besigye from addressing the court and falsely stated there was no record of their earlier charges before the General Court Martial, despite affidavits and court documents before him. The Commission dismissed the complaint, saying it did not meet the admissibility threshold. Judge Singiza said: “We have a threshold for handling complaints. Once a complaint does not meet the administrative criteria, we do not entertain it”. Today, Judge Singiza visited the PLU chairman’s office and reportedly endorsed CDF Muhoozi Kainerugaba, a serving military officer, for president in 2031. I guess he’s tired of pretending.

Dear Ugandans, We need to accept that Uganda is at a point of no return.
This morning at the Office of the National Chairman in Nakasero, I was honoured to receive Hon. Justice Dr. Singiza Douglas Karekona, Chairperson of Uganda’s Judicial Service Commission, on a courtesy call. Justice Singiza warmly endorsed Gen. @mkainerugaba for President of Uganda. A powerful affirmation of the vision we share for a stronger, more just nation
