I kind of hate it when Axelrod is right, but sometimes he is.
Few did more to contribute to the debacle the @gop just endured than Stephen Miller. The backlash to his brutal ICE raids and nativist rants can be seen in returns all over the country.
And for that, he's.:.PROMOTED?!?!

This isn’t hard. He lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC.
This.
The “I want to meet the idiot advisor who told Trump to do X” trope has become a declaration of either pure partisan water-carrying for Trump or astounding Trump worshipping naïveté. Nobody in the White House is convincing Trump — against his better judgement — to go out and talk about caulk, gold leaf, and marble selection. If you don’t know this, stop talking about politics because your opinion is worthless. If you do know this and say it anyway, guess what? It doesn’t work!
When it comes to politically weaponized xenophobia, Kris Kobach was ahead of his time. Not sad to see him go.
Another one I missed last night: Kansas AG Kris Kobach down by 11,000 votes.
In 2020, Rs prodded Marshall into the Senate race out of fear that Kobach would win the nomination and blow it. And now they're both #OpenToWork

Bad policy, bad character make bad politics: erratic tariffs, impulsive Iran war, blanket pardons, apparent corruption, weaponized justice, ICE brutality, mountainous deficits, hiding Epstein, abandoning allies and coddling enemies. Hoping for a course correction, for the country and for my party.
A couple of old guy morning after reminders:
For my Democrat friends (yes, I have a few), don't convince yourselves yesterday was some massive embrace of whatever it is you stand for. It wasn't. It was a massive rejection of Trump 2.0. Now comes the hard part: Producing. 1/2

Sign of how big this political earthquake is - my state house district is on this list (2024 Trump +16, and other Republicans won it by more).
If current results hold, Utah House Republicans are at risk of losing their supermajority, with 17 House seats and two Senate seats (including a top Senate leader) poised to flip, according to aggregated election data from @MorganandMay.
These numbers would put the House GOP with 44 of 50 needed for a supermajority.
The Senate looks to be holding its supermajority. Note: The SD-11 race is too close to call. Below are the sitting lawmakers currently at risk. @abc4utah #utpol

At some point, we’ll realize that Americans don’t want a far-left or far-right country.
We’re a nation filled with people who are desperately looking for sensible leaders in a broken political system.
And the GOP did the opposite of what nearly every voter wanted. Thus, this.
As a Reagan-era Republican, I believe -- sadly -- that this election probably needed to happen. Of course, one of the prices to be paid is that good Members of Congress and Senators, such as John Curtis, are now forced to operate from the minority. Not fun.
After the Biden era, Americans wanted an economy that worked for them. Instead, they received a hastily executed war, headline after headline of scandals, a ballooning $40 trillion debt, and unpredictable tariffs.
It’s time for Republicans to return to the principled conservative values that once defined us—and that we've steadily abandoned over the last decade.
Having begun my career in govt and politics in the days of Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neill, I have always been a bit partial to divided government -- the likely outcome of tomorrow's election.
However, effective divided government demands serious people on both sides...
Yep.
I can more easily envision a MI voter offended by @HaleyforMI late endorsement and @realDonaldTrump embrace of her than someone motivated by her tepid embrace of @MikeRogersForMI.
Not to put a damper on all the excitement, but I suspect the whole Haley Stevens - AES - Mike Rogers thing, happening Sunday before the election, is producing a lot more clicks and drama than actual impact on the election.
The fact that Ms. Zacharia thought she could go on Piers Morgan's show and somehow NOT talk about her little stint as Press Secretary pretty much confirms she was not ready for the job in the first place.
Putting her in that position was cruel.
Piers Morgan: The whole point of this interview was you were going to go over the details of what happened when you were Press Secretary
Zacharia: That's not the topics I received
Morgan: What did you think you were going to be talking about?
Zacharia: Uh, midterms. And a brief glance at my time as Press Secretary
Morgan: Okay, can we have the brief glance?
Zacharia: I was able to travel with the president on a historic trip on Air Force One
In the 1970s-80s, working on campaigns around the country, I saw the very common voter suppression tactic of simply stationing official-looking folks outside polling places. One of the oldest tricks in the book... #utpol
After announcing that the DOJ will send poll watchers to Utah, @LGHendersonUtah says she's actually grateful they got advanced warning. Plus, my colleague, @kade_garner asked her about her message for the Trump administration.
