All praise is to Allah, I am happy to announce the launch of burhanuniversity.com, a passion project of mine and my colleagues which we have been working on over the last year.
After consulting many scholars, experts and students of knowledge, we have devised a formula (1/4)
This programme is designed to teach English speakers classical Arabic from zero to fluency, through our specialised curriculum and learning structure.
The Arabic language programme is set to be six levels released over the next ten months. Enrolment is now open for all students.
If you hold the opinion of global moon sighting (Jumhur), then the crescent will almost definitely be sighting tonight in north America.
And if you go by local sighting (Shafi'iyyah) then Saudi's sighting won't concern you.
So the supposed impossibility is a non-issue for most.
The last point exemplifies exactly what's wrong with rajihi fiqh.
It encourages people to seek out anomalous opinions which suit their desires, even when the vast majority of scholars would consider it impermissible to act upon such an opinion.
May Allah have mercy upon Sheikh Abu Ishaq al Huwayni.
The sheikh was not just an ordinary da'ee, he was a person who, by Allah's virtue, changed the lives of thousands of Muslims both within Egypt and outside it
He spent his life connecting people with Allah and the Prophet ﷺ
1) You refused to debate me alone, so you are hence insisting on it being 1v2.
In any case, @MMetaphysician doesn't have to admit anything. If you want a debate then placing such unnecessary conditions isn't going to be of any benefit.
2) Yes I agree with Br Jake that asking...
🤣 I don't "insist" on it being 1v2. I only suggested 1v2 or even 1v4 because Joke refuses to debate me without a babysitter helping him.
Now that it's 1v2, magically my position is clear enough to debate again lol
As I said before, 1v2 or 1v4 is fine, but Jake needs to publicly admit he can't debate me 1v1. Or, if he is too ashamed to admit the obvious, I will accept his partner(s) doing so on his behalf.
If you can go ahead and admit to us on behalf of Jake that he is too ignorant to debate me 1v1, we can schedule this 1v2 inshaAllah.
I've now spoken to @MMetaphysician and since you insist on it being a 1v2 then we agree to your challenge.
If you wish to proceed then it's important that we come to an agreement about the exact topic and format.
Replying to @MuhibAldyn @MMetaphysician
Is Jake begging you to bail him out? 🤣
I'll happily debate you and Joke together, 1v2.
But Joke isn't weaseling his way out of this.
Convince him to man up.
This back and forth is becoming ridiculous at this point.
Daniel if a debate is what you want then I'll happily debate you on the topic of istighatha.
If what matters is clarifying the truth, then it doesn't matter whether you debate @MMetaphysician or me or anyone else.
Your description of what took place privately differs from what I witnessed and what Sh @YasirAlHanafi has said. I will let him clarify as he sees fit.
(Yet another reason why I don't agree to private exchange with known liars.)
But the question remains: Why did you offer to have a discussion with me and Sh Yasir in the first place? You agreed in public, but in private, you suddenly changed your mind?
You are a yellow coward, bro!
I choose to remain positive and have high hopes for the new Syria.
Not because I'm particularly fond of the new government.
But because I believe in the promise of the Prophet ﷺ about al Sham and its people.
He ﷺ said "īmān during times of tribulations is [present] in Sham"
If you think it's progress in the sense that I or others are making concessions, that is false.
Here I clarified the issue of istighatha in detail and explained what constitutes shirk and what doesn't, and I specifically mentioned the angels issue 👇

Okay, this is progress.
I myself do not believe in calling out to angels for help and think this is haram.
It is informative that you think that calling out to angels is halal and in no way forbidden shirk.
So you believe it is permissible to call out to angels for help when you are lost and that this is not in any way shirk.
I am curious as to other situations.
As you know there is much evidence that angels can help in battles. Allah says in Quran 8:9:
"When you begged your Lord for help, He answered you, ‘I will reinforce you with a thousand angels in succession.’"
Angels punish evildoers.
Quran 8:50:
"If only you [Prophet] could see, when the angels take the souls of the disbelievers, how they strike their faces and backs: it will be said, ‘Taste the punishment of the Fire."
Angels can also protect an individual from dangers. Quran 82:10:
"And indeed, [appointed] over you are [angel] guardians",
Angels also ask forgiveness for humans. Quran 40:7:
"Those [angels] who carry the Throne and those who surround it celebrate the praise of their Lord and have faith in Him. They beg forgiveness for the believers: ‘Our Lord, You embrace all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who turn to You and follow Your path. Save them from the pains of Hell"
Some scholars (e.g., Imam Barbahari) also argue that angels direct the rain.

Do you believe it is halal to call out to angels for help in battle, to punish evildoers, to protect one from danger, to ask forgiveness on ones behalf, and to bring rain?
Are these acts shirk?
Perhaps you will say, "these things are forbidden, because God has not explicitly permitted them. He has only permitted calling out to angels for help if one is lost, but not calling out to them to help one in batter or to punish evildoers, etc."
Understood. These acts are haram because they are not explicitly permitted.
But do you consider them shirk?
And if you say they are not shirk, is it simply because Allah has not permitted them? If that is your view, then your concept of shirk is not calling out to unseen supernatural beings other than Allah. Rather it is calling out to them without Allah's permission. As a consequence, you would not consider it shirk to call out for help to angels, jinn, and dead humans if Allah permitted it.
of the creation, ie that to which the creation's ability and will apply, then asking for such a thing is not shirk and is either permissible or at most haram/bid'ah.
So things like making du'aa for a person, physical support etc are not shirk within themselves.
