Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 met Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Noël Barrot @jnBarrot, on sidelines of the 81st Session of UNGA in New York.
Both sides reviewed Pakistan-France bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and global developments.
The DPM/FM reiterated Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen bilateral ties, including through enhanced political engagement, trade and investment, educational linkages and people-to-people exchanges.
The DPM/FM appreciated France’s efforts in support of the two-State solution, including its decision to restrict imports of goods from Israeli settlements. Both Ministers stressed that the Palestine issue must remain high on the international agenda and underscored the importance of sustained international efforts towards a just, lasting and comprehensive resolution.
On the situation concerning Iran, both sides exchanged views on the importance of continued diplomatic engagement and regional efforts to address the crisis, and highlighted the importance of implementing the Islamabad MoU. Both Ministers also stressed the need to ensure the safety and free flow of maritime traffic and uninterrupted energy supplies, given the wider economic implications of the disruptions.
The French Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for peace and stability in the region and agreed on the importance of utilizing regional forums to address regional challenges and promote dialogue.
Both sides agreed to maintain close engagement on bilateral and regional matters of mutual interest.

A conference titled "Cotton thread – A multi-millennial history of the culture of Cotton of Pakistan" was held at the Embassy of Pakistan, Paris. The event, brought together diplomats, UNESCO officials, representatives of the French textile industry, and fashion designers, to explore the long history of cotton cultivation in Pakistan and its transition to a global fashion industry.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch @Mumtazzb traced the history of cotton in ancient Pakistan with its discovery around 7000 years ago and the contributions of farmers, spinners and weavers of the region in creation of a textile tradition and laying the foundations of a global textile industry. She explained that as cotton travelled across continents, it carried with it not only a valuable commodity but also knowledge, craftsmanship and cultural exchange.
Ambassador explained that Textiles and apparel remain at the heart of Pakistan’s manufacturing and exports and employ a large share of its industrial workforce, from the spinning mills of Faisalabad to the export houses of Karachi and Lahore. For Pakistan, however, cotton is not simply an agricultural crop or an economic commodity. It is also deeply woven into Pakistan’s cultural heritage, through centuries-old traditions of spinning, weaving, embroidery and textile craftsmanship. These living traditions, she said, are part of the intangible cultural heritage that UNESCO seeks to safeguard: the knowledge, skills and craftsmanship passed from one generation to the next.
Fredrika Sundberg, founder of M/s Sunberg and President of the group “Cercle des Amis du Pakistan” shared her expertise on Pakistan's textile sector, retracing the millennia-old roots of cotton in Pakistan, from its historic origins in the Indus Valley to today's textile industry. She also highlighted Pakistani export potential in textile industry. Catherine Jarrige, archaeologist and former Co-Director of the French Archaeological Mission to the Indus Basin, shared her insight on the evidence of cotton cultivation in ancient Pakistan and highlighted that archeological finds have shown that cotton was cultivated, spun and woven over 7000 years ago in Indus Valley Civilization.
The event was organized as part of the Embassy’s public and economic diplomacy outreach, with the aim of highlighting Pakistan’s historical and contemporary links with cotton cultivation, textile industry and its centrality in Pakistan’s economy.

Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan Presents Credentials to the President of Armenia
Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan, Pakistan’s first Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia, presented his Letters of Credence to His Excellency Mr. Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of the Republic of Armenia, at a ceremony held today at the Presidential Palace in Yerevan.
President Khachaturyan warmly welcomed Ambassador Khan, congratulated him on his appointment, and conveyed his best wishes for a successful tenure and the effective discharge of his diplomatic responsibilities. The President expressed his readiness to support efforts to further develop Armenia–Pakistan relations and to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Ambassador Khan conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan to President Khachaturyan and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Armenia.
The two sides underscored the significant potential for expanding bilateral engagement, particularly in trade and investment, education, culture, people-to-people contacts, and other areas of economic cooperation.
The presentation of his credentials marks an important milestone in Pakistan–Armenia relations, following the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025. It represents Pakistan’s first ambassadorial-level appointment to the Republic of Armenia.
Earlier Ambassador Khan called on His Excellency Mr. Ararat Mirzoyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia. The Minister welcomed Ambassador Khan, congratulated him on his appointment, and wished him success in the discharge of his diplomatic responsibilities. The two sides reviewed the bilateral agenda, discussed avenues for expanding cooperation, and exchanged views on regional and international developments.
Ambassador Khan also met His Excellency Mr. Mnatsakan Safaryan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, and handed over a copy of his Letters of Credence. The Deputy Minister noted that the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Armenia represented an important policy decision by the leadership of the two countries. The two sides discussed prospects for further strengthening cooperation in bilateral and multilateral forums.
Ambassador Khan’s engagements in Yerevan reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan and Armenia to advancing bilateral relations and provided an opportunity to identify new avenues for cooperation across a broad range of mutually beneficial areas.
Ambassador Khan concurrently serves as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and as non-resident Ambassador to Armenia.

Dans son allocution de bienvenue, l'Ambassadrice Mumtaz Zahra Baloch @Mumtazzb a rendu un vibrant hommage aux martyrs et aux anciens combattants des Forces Armées pakistanaises, saluant leur engagement et leurs sacrifices. She said that the Armed Forces of Pakistan were the guarantors of its national security, and the entire nation stood shoulder to shoulder with its brave defenders.
She recalled the valiant defence by Pakistan in 1965 and in May last year when Pakistan’s Armed Forces responded to Indian aggression with resolve, precision, and professionalism. The Ambassador also highlighted Pakistan's contributions for regional and global peace and stability especially under UN peacekeeping missions.
Ambassador Baloch said that over the past two decades, Pakistan national defence has not been confined to the conventional battlefield alone. It has also extended to the fight against terrorism. In this defining battle, Pakistan’s Armed Forces, its enforcement personnel, and its citizens had made immense and often immeasurable sacrifices, she added.
Ambassador Baloch said that Pakistan believes in forging partnerships and strengthening international cooperation in pursuit of shared objectives of global peace, security and development. It was this spirit of cooperation and dialogue and commitment to international law Pakistan was playing a mediatory role in dousing the flames of war in our region, she added.
She said Pakistan do not seek conflict and instead sought peaceful and mutually respectful relations with all its neighbours. However, it would never compromise on its national defence. She added that for long term peace in South Asia, the Jammu & Kashmir dispute should be resolved as per the UN Security Council Resolutions.
