Grant Elementary held its annual school carnival Thursday evening, and this year brought a new twist as the event moved from the spring to the fall.
The change certainly didn’t slow anyone down — it was a tremendous turnout from our students, families and community!
MHS will welcome 21 schools to town for its annual marching band invitational Saturday.
The competition begins at 4:30 p.m., with bands taking the field throughout the evening. As the host, the Muskies will close out the performances at 10:25 pm.

Under the direction of Guillermo Najarro, Muscatine High School orchestra students took the stage Tuesday evening for their annual Masquerade Concert in the MHS Auditorium.
Concert Orchestra, Mariachi Perlas de Muscatine and Symphony Orchestra performed. Great job, Muskies!
Due to lack of volunteers in leadership roles, the Muskie Booster Club is prepared to dissolve after 54 years.

The MHS girls swimming team extended its winning streak to five on Saturday, taking first place at the Sayles Invitational at the Carver Swim Center.
The Muskies finished with 355.5 points, well ahead of second-place Williamsburg (260.5) and third-place Burlington (236).
Football final: Iowa City West 33, Muscatine 0
The Muskies (0-6) travel to Marion next Friday night to face Linn-Mar.

The Muscatine High School volleyball team pushed Class 5A 11th-ranked Bettendorf to five sets Tuesday night in MAC play. The Bulldogs prevailed in the end, 25-9, 23-25, 29-27, 19-25, 15-10.
It was also Staff Appreciation Night at the Fieldhouse. The Muskies are 9-11, 3-3 MAC.

For 15+ years, Nicole Calvert has been a constant presence of MHS athletics.

The fourth annual Viva Muscatine filled downtown Muscatine on Saturday with food, fun, music, culture and plenty of entertainment.

MHS stayed within striking distance for a quarter Friday night, but Pleasant Valley used a 24-point second quarter en route to a 52-14 football win at the Stadium.
Colin Glynn and Emmanuel Glahn had TDs for the Muskies (0-5). Glahn returned a kick 90 yards for a score.
Muscatine High School's volleyball team sweeps Davenport North on the road tonight, 25-22, 25-20, 25-15.
The Muskies are 3-2 in conference play and return home next Tuesday night to face Bettendorf for Staff Appreciation Night.
