The Commodore PET 2001 was released in 1977 and, along with the Apple II and TRS-80, forms the "1977 trinity" of pioneering personal computers. Now, thanks to Ian, our volunteer technical restorer, we have a fully working PET for visitors to try a range of software! #Commodore

In 1982, Atari adopted the 2600 name to differentiate the original VCS from the newer 5200. Then the 70s-style case was replaced. First by an all-black look, unofficially termed the "Vader", then in 1986, by the sleek, futuristic wedge design of the "2600 Jnr". #Museum #Atari

The Atari VCS didn’t remember a full picture the way later consoles did. 📺 It had almost no memory — barely enough to jot down a short note 📝 — and a custom chip that had to draw the screen live as the TV’s electron beam swept across it, line by line.⚡ #Museum #Atari #Swindon
