Miami-Dade has named the American flamingo its official bird! In the 1800s, flocks foraged throughout the Florida Keys and Bay. After overhunting caused them to disappear around the 20th century, they eventually returned through captive breeding and natural migration.

The @archivesfdn has selected the Museum of Miami as one of only eight stops nationwide for the Freedom Plane National Tour, and as the nation commemorates 250 years, Miami becomes one of the few places where you can see these documents face-to-face. museumofmiami.org/exhibition…
For more than 86 years, we have built the largest living archive about Miami, for Miami.
Our old name only told part of that story. We’ve always been Miami’s museum for history, culture, and community. Museum of Miami finally says that out loud.
