Everyone is talking about the woman facing execution. But almost no one is talking about the 19-year-old whose life was taken. Her name was Colleen Slemmer. She loved computers, could take them apart and put them back together, and dreamed of learning more through a Job Corps program in Tennessee. Her family described her as sweet, helpful and full of promise. On January 12, 1995, Colleen went to a wooded area in Knoxville. She never came home. That evening, she had spoken to her mother, May, on the phone. Colleen told her that three students were bothering her. It was the last time they ever spoke. For more than 30 years, her family has lived with the loss. “I think about Colleen every day, every minute, every year,” her mother said. “She’s always on my mind.” Now, as the case reaches its final chapter, Colleen deserves to be remembered first — not the person who took her life. She was a daughter, a granddaughter, a friend and a 19-year-old with her whole life ahead of her. Her name was Colleen Slemmer. Please remember hers.

One minute. That is all it takes to listen to this beautiful voice. One minute to become her voice. Parastoo Ahmadi, one of Iran's most beloved singers, has reportedly been sentenced to 74 lashes simply for singing. Her musicians and production team face the same punishment. In the 21st century, a woman will be lashed on her body because she dared to sing. I want to scream. I want to shout in the street and sing loud and tell everyone: this government is killing innocent people, executing them, lashing them. This is not a normal government. So I am calling on every famous singer, every big name, every artist with a stage and a microphone: be Parastoo's voice. Sing for her until she can sing again. #ParastooAhmadi

I feel sick to my stomach watching this but it is so important! Please share to wake people up to the dangers lurking in public restrooms.
This is the most important video on the internet right now for parents to watch.

Look closely at this wardrobe. On October 7th, Michael, aged 9, and Amalia, aged 6, locked themselves inside it to escape the terrorists. For hours, the two children remained there. Hidden. Silent. Terrified. Just outside that door, their mother, Smadar, had just been murdered. Their father, Roy, would also be killed. Imagine being 6 and 9 years old and realizing that to stay alive, you must not cry—not for a moment. You must not make a sound. They remained in hiding for nearly 12 hours. This wardrobe was not merely a piece of furniture. It was the only thing standing between two children and death. Michael and Amalia survived October 7th. Never forget what they had to do to survive. -Shulamit Etzioni.

How far left has the Left really gone? You can strangle your kids, drive at an ICE officer, stab someone at a track meet, and shoot a CEO in the head — and they’ll support you. They’ll raise money in your name, protest in the streets for you, and fight to set you free. But if your name is Charlie Kirk and you get assassinated on a college campus for having a debate, they’ll celebrate your death, desecrate your memorials, and treat the anniversary like a holiday. That isn’t normal. It should concern every American. The fact that it doesn’t should concern you even more.

He's old now, on a walker with some teeth missing. But when he sang that song, the crowd roared, and well they should have. Good for him and good for them.

The jumpers started at 8:46. Networks had the tape. They hid Americans choosing the air over the fire. Then they spent 25 years treating the word Islam like a crime. The footage was “too graphic.” The truth was forbidden. This day is stamped in my heart forever...
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Live broadcasts on 9/11 reported and showed people jumping from the WTC towers in real time. Networks later limited graphic replays out of sensitivity; the events were not hidden. biofuelsdigest.com/how-we-experie… theguardian.com/theobserver/20… nytimes.com/2004/09/10/nyr…

This should make you angry. This is Bonnie Pierce, a 38-year-old mother of three from St. Paul, Minnesota. Her house caught fire. She and two of her children escaped, then realized her toddler was still inside. Bonnie went back in, found the child, but could not get out. She shielded the child with her body. She died from her burns. The child survived. A GoFundMe for her family raised about $42,000. By comparison, more than $1,000,000 was raised on GoFundMe for Lindsay Clancy, who was charged with killing her children. It is a sad reflection of the society we have become. RIP Bonnie.

As a nurse, I’ve been around thousands of psychotic people and none of them would have had the mental capacity to carry out one murder like this, much less 3. Think about what happened in those final moments. Lindsay Clancy calmly wrapped her rubber exercise band around 8 month old Callan’s chubby neck as her two other children looked on. As she pulled the band tighter and tighter, he couldn’t understand what was happening. For about 15 seconds, the pain was localized to his neck as his airway was crushed and his skin painfully pinched. 15 seconds later, his little lungs felt intense burning due to the build up of carbon dioxide. As he gasped for air and struggled to escape, the blood trapped in his skull started pounding, causing excruciating pressure and his eyes began to bulge. She continued to squeeze while he endured unimaginable pain and terror until he finally lost consciousness after 3 tortured minutes. Once he finally stopped fighting, his mother kept the pressure on his neck for 2-3 more minutes until she thought she’d finished the job. One body down in 6 minutes. Little Dawson, 3, must’ve sensed what was about to happen to him because he ran to his father’s office, likely seeking a safe space. That’s where Lindsay caught him and wrapped an exercise band around his neck. A three year old is stronger than an infant and she’d have had to use much greater force to subdue him even though the timeline would have remained similar. Three minutes of horrific pain and terror until a loss of consciousness then 3 more minutes of pressure to finish the job. Two kids down in 12 minutes. It would have been even more difficult to with her only daughter, Cora, 5. The little girl would have witnessed one, if not both of her brothers, being systematically strangled by her mother. But fight as she might, she was no match for her mother. Lindsey Clancy caught her, held her down, and began the killing ritual. As the band went around her neck and the life was squeezed out of her over the next 6 minutes, she’d wondered why her mommy was hurting her. Imagine the pain, the confusion, the horror the little one endured in her final moments. It took Lindsay 18 minutes to kill all three of her children. Death by strangulation isn’t a fast or painless death, as she well knew since she was an RN. It is an up close and personal killing and she’d have witnessed every moment of pain and terror in their helpless eyes as the life faded from their bodies. She CHOSE how her children would die. Notice how she didn’t try to hang herself because she knew what a horrific death that would be. She tried to give herself the easy death she denied her children. Whatever her mental state, she is a cold blooded killer who wiped out her family with less mercy than a serial killer. Lindsay Clancy is a monster who deserves to die exactly as her children did- afraid and in pain. God can have mercy on her soul because I certainly won’t.

Let me introduce you to Aida Rostami, another hero from my country, Iran. She was 36 years old. A general physician. During January arising in 2026,, while the streets of Iran were filled with injured protesters, Aida chose to do help them. She was a doctor. Her job was to save lives. Quietly and anonymously, she traveled to homes in western Tehran,l, to provide medical care to protesters who were afraid to go to hospitals because they feared arrest, torture, or worse. On December 12, 2022, Aida left her home of one of the injured protesters to get medical supplies. She never came back. The next day, her family was called to a police station and told that Aida had died in a car accident. But when her family saw her body, they saw something very different. Her hands were broken. The right side of her face was crushed. Her nose was shattered. Her left eye had been severely injured. There were bruises across her body. Her family questioned the official story. And then the story changed. First, they said it was a car accident. Later, authorities claimed she had fallen from a pedestrian bridge. Her family continued to reject the official accounts. And later, her brother released an audio recording that shed light on the pressure security forces had placed on the family. They took her life. Aida was not carrying weapons, she was carrying medical supplies. She was treating wounded people. I have a question: How many people outside Iran know the name of Aida Rostami? How many doctors around the world know the story of a physician who risked everything to treat injured protesters when hospitals were no longer safe?

They hanged him at dawn.💔 The Islamic Republic executed rapper Erfan Mirzaei on Sunday, September 6, at the morning adhan, in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. No warning. No last call to his family. The rope and the silence. He was a young rapper. His crime was standing against a regime that kills to survive. He sang of freedom and hope in a country where a song can cost your life. Those who knew him remember a young man full of fire, art, and big dreams. The regime stole all of it in a single dawn, while the world slept. He was arrested during the January protests and executed in secret, while the Islamic Republic continues slaughtering January protesters in Iran's prisons under a total news blackout. His funeral is today, Say his name. Do not let the gallows have the last word.

Let me introduce you to Sarina Esmailzadeh, another hero from my country, Iran. She was 16 years old. And like so many teenage girls her age, she had a YouTube channel. She filmed herself baking cookies. She vlogged about her life in Karaj. She talked about compulsory hijab, about what it meant to grow up as a girl under the Islamic Republic, and about her dreams for freedom. She laughed on camera. She joked. She danced. She was full of life. On September 23, 2022, Sarina joined the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising. Amnesty International reported that security forces struck her repeatedly on the head with batons, killing her. She was only 16. I know I keep repeating her age. But how can I not? She was sixteen. She wanted the world to understand what it means to be a girl standing against bad laws, discriminatory traditions, and a political system that seek to control a woman’s body, her mind, her clothes, and her future. Sarina stood against all of it. And I have a question: How many women in the West know her name? How many college students and campus activists know her story? I want everyone to know her name. Because the regime could kill Sarina, but it could not kill what she stood for. We are not giving up. We will continue the path Sarina and so many other brave Iranian girls began.

Let me introduce you to a brave hero from my country, Iran. She was 16 years old. Just a girl. And on the streets of Iran, she did something braver than most people do in a lifetime: she took off her hijab and burned it in public. Right in front of the regime. Right in front of the world. That was her crime: civil disobedience. A teenage girl refusing to obey men who claimed authority over her hair, her body, her life. Her message spoke for millions of Iranian women: To every man who rules over women in the name of religion, honor, or culture: We do not obey you. Your laws were never made for us. This is what real power looks like: unarmed, unafraid, unbowed. For that defiance, she was arrested. Her family says she was tortured and killed after falling into the hands of security forces. The Iranian authorities denied responsibility and gave a different account of her death. Her name was Nika Shakarami. She was 16. Now ask yourself: How many women in the West know her name? How many know what she risked for a freedom they have never had to fight for? Say her name: Nika Shakarami.

After 11 years as a sports columnist at the Seattle Times, I have decided to resign. It was entirely my choice, and it was not an easy one. The impetus was the Times declining to run a column I wrote from the perspective of two female student athletes who were opposed to competing against biological males. It was one of several pieces of mine that had been spiked, and I no longer felt like I could properly do my job as a columnist. I lay out the situation in greater detail in the link below, but I want to say that I enjoyed my time with the paper, find the talent there to be immense, and have no animosity toward anyone who works there. It was just time for a change. mattycee.substack.com/p/i-wa…
