It can take a lot to ask for help - even worse when you're told no-one available...
I requesting support from the Memory Clinic when I was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s to guide me through the Rites of Passage. But no one was trained!

We love reading about people creating life story books. Thanks @juliagapowell for sharing this. At @MyMemoryJournal we're working to make it easy for people to create life story books that combine photos, music and video.
I've been helping mum remember who she is. I've finally finished her "This is my life book" before she goes into a home. It will help carers know who mum is & can be used to help mum when she needs prompting about her past. It's great for discussion. bonusprint.co.uk/view-online…

Sounds worth a read - anything that tells the reality of what a carer's life is actually like,,,
Not everyone is born a natural caregiver. amzn.to/2Uxkfdn
Couldn't agree more...
it’s been said before but I‘LL SAY IT AGAIN PLEASE can someone start making affordable, ATTRACTIVE accessibility equipment for the home? i want a cute rose gold shower stool not blue & white industrial trash 🙄 just cos i’m disabled doesn’t mean i don’t have taste?
We've met some amazing people in care homes so would encorage anyone to take part in #carehomeopenday

Thanks @ShobnaGulati for writing this blog. In our work we see opportunities for new ways of creating support networks for people living with #dementia
"If we can help people talk about dementia, we create support networks and enable people to find information that can be a real lifeline. Let's get talking." Read this powerful blog from actress @ShobnaGulati dementiablog.org/every-day-e…
Always good to see a local project like this win a national award suffolkfreepress.co.uk/news/…
Whilst we love using technology always good to be reminded of the importance of getting outside
Even when the weather is dull and damp accessing the outdoors improves mood, aids cognition and bone health. If there are steps in and out of the home, consider if these are in good condition and if they require a rail which may aid balance and confidence. #WithOTuCAN
Good on you Ron! Thanks for sharing.
Pls SHARE 102 yr old D-Day veteran Sgt Ron Trenchard wants to tell younger generations all around the world because he knows how war feels...so he made this yesterday at Galanos House.1 of 2 films #DD75 #DDay75 #DDay75thAnniversary #DDay75years #DDAY2019 @PoppyLegion
Good reminder that #dementia friendly activities don't always have to be indoors the-gazette.co.uk/news/17685…
We like reading about people creating personal digital reminiscence. With technology you can combine memories, photos, music and video - and love designing creative ways of doing this.
Not around tonight, I am putting togetter A digital Book of You, happy mememories photo's, music, video. Family and friend can also and on. So when reminising only bring back happy memories. Have to be careful with reminising not all had happy part.
Awareness is slowly growing that #dementia shouldn't be any more or less embarrassing that any other condition
I've encountered several people who don't want anyone 2know their loved one has any form of dementia b/c they're embarrassed--"What will ppl think?!" We need an atmosphere where people get the help they need; patients deserve dignity & respect. Families don't need to be ashamed.

Just because you are living with #dementia in a care home doesn't mean you can't create "vibrant, thought-provoking and joyful" artwork: kcwtoday.co.uk/2019/05/demen…
