It was fashionable after last assisted dying debate that to say it showed the Commons at its best. I don't think it did - it showed *some* MPs at their best but some just recounting emotional stories with little analysis or evidence, including on safeguards. Being an MP is about more than emoting. Too many bill proponents don't seem to understand that.
