Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.

I'm back at #WSOP. This will be my shortest schedule in years--only two weeks--thanks to the tax man.
Entered my first event today, and finished with another really disappointing min cash. 🙄 I worked it hard all day. In fact, I think I played my best tournament poker ever today. No mistakes. I got worse than average starting hand distribution, but when I did play a hand, I either squeezed the max value out of it, or I lost the absolute minimum.
All but one of my big losses came when I got it in way ahead and just got unlucky. But I never lost focus. I didn't tilt. I never gave up, even when bad beats took me under 5 BB (twice).
When I had a big stack, I played it well. I got called down once on a huge bluff, but I'm certain it was the right play, and it would print money 95% of the time. The whole table was shocked the guy called me. It later became clear it was the right play, just against the wrong lucky idiot.
After getting down to two big blinds, I fought for every chip and scratched my way back to 18 BB. Finally, my QQ couldn't beat the same lucky idiot when he jammed AQ.
It was really frustrating to work so hard to finally get myself to the point where I was 70% to pick up a strong 40 BB stack, and ride it to a deep run. But once again, I basically ended up with a tournament minimum wage. Again.
I'm sure I'll do much better in the cash game streets (I almost always do), but I still have the dream of making a big WSOP score one of these days. Let's just do it in the Main Event!
Hey @jeffplatt, maybe I'm just acting like a boomer, but it would be really cool if I could somehow find a schedule for upcoming streams, even if it's just a rough plan. I realize you guys have to shift gears constantly depending who makes a deep run in specific events. But if there's a public schedule of, e.g., what coverage is planned for tonight or the next few days, it certainly isn't intuitively easy to find.
This is pretty freaky. I just sent one of my AI bot agents a message from my phone, telling it to switch from one AI inference model to a completely different one, and it successfully gave itself a brain transplant while I'm getting a ride to the airport. 🤯

Man, 6 is fun from DU0A. Hours and hours today of 9K, A6, A7--all quite common here. Worked a new grid in HZ. Then nothing at all for a few hours. And just as I'm thinking about going to bed at 11 pm, here comes PR7XB, PY7ZZ and PY7XC. Nothing but those three Brazil stations, some 17,300 km away!
And they were loud! I had already turned off the amp, so worked XB easily with drive power, less than 30 W. Opening lasted a good 45 minutes, but only to that very small area. All in all, three new grids in the log today.
