NASA is targeting Wednesday, Oct. 14 for its next RS‑25 engine hot fire test on the Fred Haise Test Stand at NASA Stennis. The test window is between 2 to 4 p.m. CDT, and you are invited to watch live! As we approach ignition, an update will be provided. For each @NASAArtemis mission, four RS-25 engines, along with a pair of solid rocket boosters, power NASA’s SLS (Space Launch System) rocket to produce more than 8.8 million pounds of total combined thrust at liftoff. 🔥 Watch the test here: ➡️ youtube.com/NASAStennis ➡️ facebook.com/NASAStennis

We also hosted “From the Classroom to the Test Stand,” a virtual panel exploring how Career and Technical Education can open real pathways into NASA careers. Blake Ford, Kristie Foster, Jacob McKinley and Jared Spiers shared about their path to NASA, day‑to‑day work at Stennis, and advice for students interested in hands‑on technical roles that support missions to the Moon and beyond. Thank you to the educators helping students discover futures in STEM and CTE!

Kristie Foster paved her road to becoming a NASA civil servant with literal miles of dedication. Her work at the agency’s Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, supports NASA’s mission to return American astronauts to the Moon, build a Moon Base for an enduring presence on the lunar surface, and ensure American leadership in space. Foster’s move from a long-time contractor to a civil servant secures critical institutional knowledge after being hired in June under the agency’s workforce directive to restore core competencies. 🔗Full story: nasa.gov/centers-and-facilit…
