The same guy who was caught fixing the price of bread for years now claims that the big grocers have no control over prices. Give me a break. Canadians aren’t stupid. We see Galen getting richer and richer as grocery costs skyrocket. We know we’re being ripped off. It’s time to break up the Big Grocery Cartel and drive down costs with a national network of public grocery stores that Canadians can actually afford to shop at.

Hamilton's steelworkers are at the heart of our economy, and we won’t stand by while a Trump-aligned CEO tries to wipe them out. Yesterday, I rallied with Stelco workers to protest Cleveland-Cliffs' layoffs and their overt sabotage of our steel industry. Stelco’s owner has admitted that he bought the company to take out the competition for his US steel mills. Once our steel industry is gone, it’s gone forever. It's time for the government to act before it's too late. Nationalize Stelco. Save these good union jobs. Put the steel industry into public hands. That's how we take back control of our economy and build a stronger Canada for everybody.

Shame! Liberals voted against the NDP bill to protect the right to strike. Even so-called “progressive” Liberals fell in line. The Carney government continues to put the interests of foreign investors over the rights of workers. Here are the receipts:

Avi Lewis on Stelco: "The CEO has admitted on CBC that he bought this company in order to take out the competition for his U.S. steel mills. And now he's violating the law by by laying off hundreds of workers potentially right before Christmas. This is obscene."

New Democrats have repeatedly raised concerns about the UAE’s human rights record with the Liberals – including the UAE’s role in the genocide in Sudan. Canada should not sign a trade deal with a country fueling genocide and weapons should not be shipped while this continues.

The Liberal government intervened to end legal strikes 10 times over the last three years. They did this by inappropriately using Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code. In several cases, they did only hours after job action began.

Again and again the Liberal government has attacked workers’ Charter-protected collective bargaining rights and their right to strike. The Liberals have undermined legal strikes 10 times in just three years using Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code. Now, they’re trying to extend this authoritarian power in Bill C-39. The @NDP has joined workers saying that enough is enough. My Bill C-247 to uphold the right to strike will be voted on this afternoon, when workers across Canada will find out if the Liberals will respect their right to bargain for a fair deal, or will keep taking orders from billionaires and corporate executives.

“Leaders from Treaty No. 6, No. 7, No. 8 and the Blackfoot Confederacy — along with NDP MP Leah Gazan — were also among those who added their voices to previous calls from chiefs in Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec for the Carney government to withdraw the controversial Bill C-39. That legislation has sparked objections from environmentalists, unions and Indigenous groups as it seeks to hasten federal assessments of development projects like pipelines, electricity grids, mines and more.” thestar.com/politics/federal…

The American CEO who bought Stelco is openly admitting that he purchased the company to sabotage it. This is why the Liberals should have never approved Stelco's sale in the first place. When you give away ownership of a critical industry like steel, your economy is forever under another's thumb. There is only one solution that will save these jobs and put Canada back in the driver's seat: we need to nationalize Stelco.
Cleveland-Cliffs CEO: I bought Stelco because I could not afford anymore having Stelco flooding the market here in the United States to the detriment of my own company. David Cochrane: Am I understanding you correctly there? It was a defensive acquisition?

This is @MarkJCarney ’s Climate Contradiction: promising to protect nature internationally while weakening environmental safeguards at home. Canada must stop the double talk and start delivering real protections. #COP17Armenia 2/

Congratulations to President Lula and the people of Brazil! Brazilians have chosen democracy, social justice and a future that rejects the far right. This is a powerful reminder that progressives can win when we fight for working people and stand up for our values.

At least $50 billion for another pipeline. $82 billion in new military spending in 5 years. $300 billion in corporate welfare and mega incentives at an investment summit. But the cupboard is bare for Parks Canada. Despite the heroic efforts of the @psac_afpc workers who'll remain, camping will be chaos next summer. If you’re not a big corporation or foreign investor, you might just be invisible to this government.
2,671 PSAC members at Parks Canada received notice this week that their positions may be cut. These cuts put our environment, natural and cultural heritage, parks, and national historic sites at risk. psacunion.ca/psac-raises-ala…

Bill C-39 puts foreign investors’ profits ahead of workers’ rights, environmental protections and Indigenous rights. Canada’s top scientists warn it will cause irreversible harm. So why are the Liberals limiting scrutiny instead of giving this bill the thorough review it demands?

Why is this government allowing Israeli companies blacklisted for genocide to acquire Canadian companies - contrary to our own laws and policies? The government's response is what exactly?

The Prime Minister called Bill C-39 the most consequential legislation in decades. This is True. It tramples on environmental protections and Indigenous and workers’ rights, while handing ministers king powers to override constitutional safeguards in the name of the “national interest.” Our Constitutional rights are not an inconvenience. So are the Liberals, with the help of the Conservative, really trying to build a strong Canada, or are they just working together to build a pipeline to the courts?
