Maghaberry has completed the first Healthy Dads Healthy Kids programme in @NIPrisons.
Delivered by our Physical Education Instructors, the programme helps fathers in custody strengthen bonds with their children through play, physical activity and positive parenting. 1/2
Over 8 weeks, dads and kids came together to play sports, learn about nutrition and share family meals in a supportive setting.

"Giving something back" was the motivation behind a recent charity football match involving staff and prisoners, which raised £900 for @AutismNI. The donation was presented to Autism NI, who expressed there appreciation for the work to raise the funds. 1/2
The initiative highlights the positive contribution prisoners can make to the wider community, while supporting rehabilitation, education and stronger relationships through purposeful activity. 2/2

Addressing health & addiction issues is a critical part of reducing harm and supporting rehabilitation. Speaking at the Counselling in Prisons Network in Belfast, Governor Amanda McIlwaine highlighted the work at Maghaberry to support prisoners & maintain a safe environment.
Throughout the school holidays, our prisons are running all-day breakfast clubs for children who are visiting people in prison. Thanks to @niacro and our staff for facilitating this important initiative.
