October is Energy Awareness Month!
This month is a time to reflect on how our daily actions impact our energy use and the environment.
Every small change helps push New Jersey towards a more sustainable future, whether it’s just remembering to turn off a light when you leave a room or exploring New Jersey’s clean energy programs.

Thank you, @GovSherrillNJ, for stopping by this week! BPU staff have been hard at work advancing energy affordability by:
⚪Bringing more energy onto the grid
⚪Holding grid operators, data centers, & utilities accountable
⚪Making more efficient use of our energy infrastructure
I visited the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to thank the public servants working hard every day to lower costs for New Jerseyans.
From holding utility companies accountable to helping bring more power online swiftly, they’re helping drive our aggressive energy affordability agenda forward.
Together, we’ve already taken steps that are estimated to save New Jersey ratepayers more than $1 billion a year. And we’re just getting started!

Now more than ever, collaboration is needed to address the issues facing the energy industry. State leaders from across the region met today in Chicago to discuss solutions to rising electricity prices.

This year's theme is "Unidos, Somos Más" (Together , We Are More).
This Hispanic Heritage Month, NJBPU is recognizing the generations of Hispanic and Latino communities who's traditions, contributions, and accomplishments continue to shape New Jersey.

New Jersey’s Nuclear Power Task Force is getting to work.
Nuclear already generates more than 40% of our electricity and 80% of our clean power. We’ve lifted a 50-year moratorium on new nuclear development and signed the Power NJ Act to pave the way for more nuclear power with strong protections for ratepayers.
And we’re doing it the right way – any new nuclear project must pass rigorous review by our Board of Public Utilities and Economic Development Authority and prove its benefits before breaking ground.
Now, experts from government, industry, and labor will help shape what comes next as we work to expand power generation, lower costs, and keep New Jersey competitive for the long term.

** 141,114,836 square feet! **
That’s the staggering amount of space audited through the Local Government Energy Audit Program since 2016.
That’s equivalent to 2,448 football fields🏈
