C'mon people, this is the quality Conflict of Laws content I know y'all want
When a lawsuit involves connections to multiple states, the court must determine which state's law will govern the case. States follow several different choice of law approaches to make those determinations (some follow more than one!) 1/4

"I will not stand behind Angie Nixon" Angie Nixon did better than Phil Ehr in his own district.
Cuba is a communist dictatorship. Anyone seeking to serve in the United States Senate should be able to say those words without hesitation. Angie Nixon has never been to Gaza, yet she has had no problem calling what happened there a genocide and encouraging others to antagonize those supporting Israel’s right to exist. Nixon voluntarily joined the Democratic Socialists of America, an organization that has sent delegations to Havana to meet with Cuban government officials and publicly praised the achievements of Cuban socialism. Meanwhile, the Cuban people live under a regime that imprisons political opponents, suppresses dissent, and denies its citizens the most fundamental freedoms. There is nothing progressive about making excuses for communist dictatorships. And there is nothing democratic about refusing to recognize one. My first mission in the United States Navy was rescuing Cuban families fleeing Castro’s regime. I spent the next 26 years defending the Constitution and the freedoms those families risked everything to find. I find it profoundly disturbing that someone aspiring to represent the United States in the Senate would struggle to answer a question so fundamental to our country’s principles. I will not stand behind Angie Nixon or defend her remarks. If the Democratic party is unwilling to condemn them, I will. The Democratic Party does not own my conscience, and political loyalty will never supersede my duty to this country.

Dems flipped 16 FL House seats and lost 1 – yielding the smallest GOP majority since the GOP won control of the chamber in 1996. This is the most seats any party has flipped in 60+ years.

In the FL Senate, Dems held the seat they flipped in March and flipped an Orlando-area district. 4 GOP incumbents narrowly held on in Miami, Polk, and Pinellas (all under 2-point races).

Update: Brevard was *not* finished counting HD 33, and Dems actually flipped *17* seats, netting 16. A 70-50 chamber and the smallest GOP majority in 30 years. nitter.cf/AnthonyClose/status/21…
Not so fast -- Daniel McDow has taken the lead in Florida State House District 33 in Brevard County against incumbent Monique Miller. This would be seat #50 for Florida House Dems.

Yet another government forced to pay up for punishing Charlie Kirk-related free speech. Today we announce an $80,000 settlement for Palmetto Bay Councilman Steve Cody, whose Council colleagues punished him for a satirical post the day Kirk was killed.

Despite officially recognizing that Cody's post was 1st Amendment-protected, the Village Council stripped him from a committee as punishment for it. Cody sued for just $1, plus reinstatement to the committee — but his colleagues refused. The Village settled for $80,000 instead.

Nixon is both a movement progressive and a Democrat's Democrat who believes in big-tent leftism. She was Bernie’s 2016 Black outreach deputy field director. Four years later, she unseated an anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ Dem who’d beaten past challengers. axios.com/2026/08/21/florida…

New case filed today with @cjpmiami over FIU’s absurd “no free expression indoors” policy 👇🏼
BREAKING: Students have filed a lawsuit against FIU for violating their right to protest on campus. They silently stood against the university's decision to contract with ICE while wearing "ICE OFF FIU" t-shirts—and they got punished for it. That's unconstitutional.
