أهنئ الدكتور/ عبدالرحمن السيد (عبدول) والدكتور/ آدم حموي الأمريكيين من أصل مصري بفوزهما بعضوية مجلسي الشيوخ والنواب في الولايات المتحدة. كما أهنئ كافة الأمريكيين من أصول عربية والذين انتخبوا لعضوية الكونجرس الأمريكي أو لعضوية برلمانات الولايات أو الإدارات المحلية فيها. هذا الفوز يعكس أوضاعاً وربما أفكاراً جديده في الوسط السياسي الأمريكي، يمكن أن تدفع إلى إعادة النظر ومفهوم جديد لمعنى ومضمون "تغيير الشرق الأوسط". فلا يقتصر على العرب، بل يشمل إسرائيل وغيرها من الدول غير العربية في المنطقة مثل إيران مما يصحح الطريق نحو تسويات سلمية سليمة وإلى عودة القانون الدولي إلى التفعيل والاحترام. لعل هذا التطور يدفع إلى مرحلة تتسع فيها الرؤية الأمريكية لتضع حق تقرير المصير للشعب الفلسطيني في صميم أي مسعىً جاد نحو إقامة سلام مستقر في الشرق الأوسط وإلى حركة قوية نحو التنمية الإقليمية. I congratulate Dr. Abdulrahman El-Sayed (Abdul) and Dr. Adam Hamawy, both Americans of Egyptian descent, on their election to the United States Senate and House of Representatives, respectively. I also extend my congratulations to all Americans of Arab descent who have been elected to the U.S. Congress, state legislatures, or local governments across the United States. These electoral victories reflect emerging realities, and perhaps new ideas, within the American political landscape. They could pave the way for a reassessment and a new understanding of the meaning and substance of “changing the Middle East”—one that is not confined to Arab countries but also encompasses Israel and other non-Arab states in the region, including Iran. Such an approach could help set the region on a more constructive path toward genuine peaceful settlements and the restoration of respect for and adherence to international law. Hopefully, this development will usher in a new phase in which American perspectives broaden to place the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination at the heart of any serious effort to establish lasting peace in the Middle East and generate strong momentum toward regional development. @AbdulElSayed @HamawyForNJ
