I don't usually get vulnerable in posts, I save it for music but I am really thankful I had my grandpa's guidance and example to pull from. I grew up without a dad so it has been invaluable to me that I had at least one positive male role model. I miss him a lot today.

It wasn't dignified and it's not like the movies. Dementia takes everything from you. I'm grateful that I was able to care for him at the end like he cared for us kids when we were small, though. It's the closest I could ever get to repaying him for the sacrifices he made
