Today we remember June 24, 2022, the day that the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling decimated the constitutional right to an abortion. But community care is not something the courts can take from us🫱🏾🫲🏿

It’s that time again, New York: FUND-A-THON is back! 👋 nyaaf.org/fundathon2025
Their legacy continues! NYC is a hub for Black feminist activism and reproductive justice organizing, and several community organizations continue that work today.
Please consider supporting one of our friends below this Black History Month ✨
SHIRLEY CHISHOLM: The first Black woman elected to the NY Assembly and the U.S. Congress was a Brooklynite! Chisholm's tireless representation of New Yorkers resulted in the WIC program, expansion of food stamps, and state-funded child care.
AUDRE LORDE: Prolific writer, poet, and Black lesbian feminist. She was born in Harlem, was a two-time graduate from NY universities, and even served as a librarian in NYC public schools! Lorde also maintained a Staten Island residence where she wrote pieces of Sister Outsider.
FLO KENNEDY: Fierce lawyer, activist, and radical feminist. She was a two-time Columbia University graduate, fought for intersectionality in the law (far before the term was coined in 1994), and was an unapologetic advocate for abortion access.
💜 HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH 💜
We’re honoring a few of the foundational Black feminists who lived, worked, and organized in NYC, because their history is our history 🗽
💼 Looking for work? We’re looking for YOU! 🫵🏽
