Today marks the 14th anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, which devastated entire neighborhoods, killing 44 New Yorkers and causing approximately $19 billion in damage citywide. DDC is building a more resilient city through ESCR, BMCR, and other critical infrastructure projects.

One of the first capital projects I funded after taking office was a new bathroom for Kissena Park. So excited to celebrate breaking ground this week! Located near the Velodrome, the project is on a fast track for completion and will be ready for park goers to use in February.

I recently attended the groundbreaking for the City’s $10 million project upgrading Queens Farm’s barn and garage. The project will ensure that the staff & volunteers at the historic site can continue their public-facing work that reaches students & families from throughout NYC.

The @queensfarm is a gem of our district, and it's getting well-deserved upgrades! Yesterday, we broke ground on the $10 million renovation for the Queens County Farm Museum, which will add ADA accessibility and upgrades to our historic landmark for generations to come!

DDC is partnering with @NYCulture on a $17.8 million renovation to transform the former Engine Company 204 firehouse in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn into a permanent home and music school for the Noel Pointer Foundation.
City and elected officials, a law enforcement official, as well as a student from the Noel Pointer Foundation stand together holding shovels scooped with dirt as part of the ground breaking ceremony. This project will transform the old firehouse building into a wonderful space where the foundation can continue to teach music to NYC students while honoring the legacy of Noel Pointer and the firefighters who worked at the firehouse.
