Sustained mechanical loading at the costal margin engages local YAP signaling in fascial fibroblasts. The force deforms the extracellular matrix, raises cytoskeletal tension, and shifts YAP into the nucleus, supporting expression of matrix-remodeling genes at the loaded site. Because the Deep Front Line continues through the diaphragm and psoas, the same change in resting tension redistributes force proximally into the cervical and hyoid segments and distally into the pelvic and deep leg compartments. Cellular remodeling stays restricted to the fibroblasts under the load. Positional and mobility changes farther along the chain come from altered force transmission, not distant YAP activity. Prolonged hand pressure on the lower ribs is the input that produces both the local matrix response and the bidirectional mechanical rebalancing. Has anyone tracked ECM markers after repeated self-applied pressure at this site? (Synthesis of existing YAP and fascial continuity literature.)
